Cat PTS this morning

I'm so sorry Flaxseed it's a horrible thing to have to do. My 15 year old became very ill suddenly last year and nothing could be done for him. At least I didn't have to worry for ages about whether he was deteriorating but it took months to get used to being a one cat household.

I have the ashes of a cat I lost a few years ago in the soil of a potted lavender. I’m glad I did this as I moved last year so he could come with me

We are both less tearful today knowing he’s free of his ailments and that we did the right thing by him. I hope he’s running free over the Rainbow Bridge with all of the lovely pets you have all lost too 🌈

So sorry VB000. You did the hardest but kindest thing and yes, according to my beliefs she is in a much better place now. 💐

My little 16 year old cat was PTS a month ago, she was very weak and had stopped eating. The vets were lovely and also posted a condolences card.

She is in a much better place now, but it's still sad without her.

We all know the feeling and feel so sorry for you.

We now have three cats buried in our garden - the two old ones who moved here with us, and a young stray that had become tame and was killed on the road. At least he too got the dignity of a burial in the garden.

I still chat to them when I pass that end of the garden even although we now have two one year old cats - very much loved too.

Sometimes I could swear I "see" on or other of the old cats, and even their predecessors - mind playing tricks, or just the fact that whether animals or humans we never really stop missing those we love.

You did the right thing, as you now, but it is cold comfort right now.

It's a real bereavement. Am so sorry. I know how it feels, have had to have 3 cats PTS over the years and it's heartrending every time. You did the right thing. Much sympathy.

Poor boy had long claws because he wasn’t going out much to keep them short. He walked round constantly and aimlessly and there’s now a silence where the constant noise of those claws on the laminate once were

and CrazyH I'm so sad about your experience, that should never happen. When our daughter's cat was put to sleep here at our house, after a few days the practice sent her a sympathy card with a lovely message. That was a lovely touch.

We're facing a similar prospect in the not too distant future with our almost 19 year old tabby girl. She's currently doing well on palliative steroids so I'm hopeful she can enjoy one last summer's sunshine 🌈

Sad times. They are auch a big part of our lives.

So sorry Flaxseed your boy has a special place in your heart that's reserved for our pets.

We lost one of our Boys two years ago and the other last November. I still expect to be greeted by them when I come home.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Our beautiful cat passed away recently unexpectedly and he was 12. We were so upset and still are. I’ve still got all his food, blankets, scratch post and can’t think of getting rid of them all. Every day, I expect to see him sitting by his bowl in the kitchen and he isn’t there. It is very hard.
My sympathies are with the OP.

Flaxseed I'm so sorry to read this. It's such a hard decision to have to make but know that you did the right thing for him. He will live on in your memories. I have a "kitty corner" in my house with photos of each of my cats from the past, and I love to look at them.

Sorry for your loss . Having been through that several times, I know how you must be feeling. Our lovely boy died last October (in 43 years, this is the longest time we've been without a cat). You did the right thing, your boy had been suffering. x

I have had to have pets pts a few times in the past unfortunately and I know we go forward with the lovely memories.

The poor old boy used to really wail in the cat basket going to the vets, but today he didn’t. Maybe he knew it was time too

CrazyH that is beyond awful. Every vet I have used to euthanise pets has been so kind.
DP did ring up a mobile vet yesterday so that he wouldn’t have the stress of the journey, but didn’t like his attitude and lack of compassion, so there are obviously vets like that around here too.

Thankfully we haven’t had the experience of a bad one. I’m so sorry that you did.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I know just how you feel, our lovely cat is now 18 and has lost weight though she eats like a horse, has a bit of dementia too. She loves sleeping in the sun in her favourite part of the garden so for now we are making her life as lovely as possible. You have given your cat a lovely life and a peaceful pain free end, it was the right thing to do, you just know don't you. Thinking of you.

So sorry for you . My cat had an operation in March and as she has a heart murmur there was a real risk she would die in theatre. It was the longest day waiting to hear and I was so thankful to keep her. My heart goes out to you I hope it consoles you to know that she was loved so much
