Four times I’ve read this today.....

When answering questions recently, a nurse filling in a form, said perfect to everything I said.

After a little while it began to grate, and I was mouthing ‘perfect’ with her. (Not that I am you understand

I agree with Witzend. Most things seem to be incredible or unbelievable. The misuse of hyperbole is rife. I dislike it when people say everyone thinks or everyone is waiting for. I want to shout out "I'm not".

Wow.

It drives me mad when in answer to a question, someone says 'Yes, no, absolutely!'

“So” also drives me mad I lose track of the subject and start counting the times so is spoken. 26 in one interview! I can’t remember what it was about ?.

I'm bemused at the over use (to me) of 'amazing'. So many things/people seem to be amazing now. I wonder what word we can use for things that really are amazing.

I just loathe it when educated people on the radio begin every answer with ".So........ "

I did however, enjoy a big sign at Christmas on a stall selling " wall nuts from California". SO much for education !

Yes a lot of these are really annoying although I do find myself saying so.... sometimes. Our kitchen fitter finished every sentence with 'you know what I mean' - yes we did!

Years ago my in-laws had a shop selling veg - his sign said colliflowers - he knew it was wrong but he said he sold more that way

I know that the English language is changing and growing constantly as it always has. BUT ... I/he/she was 'sat' hurts my brain.

AND while I'm on a rant ... the 'amount' of people. SCREEEEAAAMMM!!!!!

My teenage GD says 'like' in the middle of nearly every sentence.....eg: "School was so ....Like...boring today".
The problem is that I hear this so often, and I have started to copy!
When making a dental appointment today, I asked the receptionist "Could you book me in ...like...early if possible".

An advert in our village newsletter proclaimed that such and such a builder specialised in "Loft conversations"

Changes in language used to make me cross but not so much now. I think I've just come to accept that language changes over the years although I don't like to hear really ungrammatical sentences. I like to see correctly written sentences too but perhaps some people would say I am displaying snobbish attitudes.

I was told by a linguistics expert (expert is another overused term)
That some people cannot lose their native accents whereas others are like mimics and change easily depending on what they hear. These second group are linguistically unstable. I am like that and often get asked where I come from as I have a mixed accent

Really cannot stand "my bad" and "baby mother" meaning babies mother but not the mans partner.

I never liked 24/7 but find myself using it sometimes, still do not like it but it has crept into my vocabulary.

I phoned the bank earlier this week MissA and the young woman taking my call made a mistake in the information she had given me. When I asked her to double check she said "ooops, my bad. Sorry". My bad? What's that all about? wanders off, shaking my aged head in despair.

One of the reasons why I love watching old films is hearing people speak proper English. Yes, language does evolve, but any changes should be for the better. Everything is going downhill.

My bad. I haven't heard of so fun yet.
