Reporting Trump's comments on other countries

I have been listening to "Today" and was suprised to hear them report "President Trump" said xyz about the arrest of some men in Whelford, a village close to RAF Fairford.

He is not (thankfully) our President. Surely his comments should be prefaced by "America's President Trump" just as you might expect "President of France, Emmanuel Macron"?

Indeed, I agree.

What’s more, America, and their Trump can keep his comments about events in our country to himself, unless he’s going to bother to fact check his comments!

He won’t ever admit he’s wrong though! Which is a problem.

Trump fact check things???
I do wonder if the man even knows the meaning of the word 'fact', and the only meaning of 'check' that he knows is probably the one that we British spell as 'cheque'!

I could understand him commenting as I believe the incident was close to an American air force base. It was Today I felt was at fault - and other presenters.

Can there be any Today listener who needs to be reminded of where Trump is President?

It is understandable that Trump would comment because of US involvement there but to criticise the way the police and security services acted was out of order.
Think he needs to get his own country sorted before making negative comments about others.

We just laughed when we heard his statement . What a weird man he is. Alarming that he has so much power.

Doubtful isn’t it?

The connection between us at Fairford is why he spoke, but you’re right in that there should be no criticism.

This will be an interesting thing to see. The protests have increased in size each time they happen. The last one had quite a few previous Trump voters. IMO turnout will give us a rather good temperature of the country just before elections. It also could give him an opportunity to declare Martial Law.

Thought I would put it here

Hit enter too soon.

No, I feel we all know who President Trump, Macron, Mertz or Zelinsky are, so it is not really necessary to name their country.

Trump is no favourite of mine, but as there apparently are US personel stationed at the R AF base in question, we can hardly expect him not to comment on what is going on there.

His comments may be inane, uninformed or plain wrong, but by now we are used to that from him.

He will probably change his mind tomorrow and completely contradict himself. He couldn't care less. Seems like par for the course

As Oldnproud and Auntie have said, anyone who expects any sane, reasonable and well-informed comments from the Orange Baboon should seek appropriate treatment (if it's been invented yet?).

That IS the man who, in a 4th of July speech, praising the Patriots who brought about American Independence, referred to their bravery in preventing the British from "using their airfields". A mere 120+ years BEFORE the Wright brothers got airborne for the first time . . . . .
