Has Trump Completely Lost It?

He says he's come to an agreement with Denmark to establish a military presence in Greenland, with a view to incorporating it into the US as the 51st state.

Denmark are silent.

Don't say he's making it up?

I read in the week that trump has invited Putin to the G20 meeting.

I hope the rest of the G20 will boycott it.

Stalin murdered many thousands of people. More than Hitler. I don’t think Trump, bad as he is, is anything like that.

Mister Trump has clearly modelled himself on Josef Stalin, surrounded by sycophants who 'adored' him because they lived in fear they could be spirited away, at any time for any reason, to a Siberian labour camp. As several millions were.

Think of Trump's regiment of ICE thugs, just picking people off the streets and disappearing them at the behest of a tyrant president. Too many similarities with the old USSR.

Dunno about that.

I think it's more likely that his sycophants are afraid of losing their positions and the prestige and lifestyle that go hand in hand if they say "no" instead of "yes".

Short answer - yes

Elegran

I can only imagine that at an early age he learnt to grab whatever he wanted from his siblings - and was not taught to modify that attitude.

I've always thought he did not have a comfortable or particularly happy upbringing, mentally and emotionally. It's alleged his father was motivated largely by 'winning' and accruing money and I get the impression that if you weren't 100% one of the achievers in the family, you'd be ridiculed and rather scorned.

Obviously, I'm only speculating on what I've read and I'm no expert in human behaviour, not at all.

Also, I'm not trying to defend his frequently rather outrageous behaviour by such speculation - but it could explain it to some degree.

It could explain why he constantly needs to congratulate himself; why he carelessly inflicts chaos and violence abroad and also on his own people. And why he needs the flattery and sycophantic approval of his close 'cabinet' as well as his wider audience. If he loses in the mid-terms (next month?) I believe he will find it almost impossible to accept it.

I've read that, as a child, he was mercilessly teased sometimes, maybe this was alleged by his niece, I'm not sure, but if true - as with the other allegations about his childhood, he's been brought-up in a pretty toxic environment, though probably doesn't realise it as he speaks affectionately of his mother and seems proud of his father... so who knows.

Which is better....to try to anticipate future problems and take precautions or wait until something drastic happens and then deal with it?
Greenland is a huge landmass and strategically placed. Any sensible politician can see the potential benefit to a country hostile to the west.

You are a bit behind the times - that was agreed decades ago between Truman, Greenland/Denmark.

The original agreement remains unaltered.

Anyway, any normal head of state wanting to discuss closer ties or reviving former bases in a territory with its own government but belonging to a fellow NATO member, would surely go about it diplomatically. Not Trump, who started "discussion" off by threatening to take over Greenland.

For Lesley -- his wife isn't really "with him" now. She lives pretty much a separate life, gets wheeled out for State occasions, gets reputedly paid a huge allowance to stay on hand, and probably has a non-disclosure agreement to not spill the beans. No need to feel sorry for her, she knew exactly what she was signing up for when getting married.

DrWatson Sat 26-Sept-26 07:25:27

I see we have a deluded MAGA/Chump supporter in our midst, that's 'Monami' and that "History will tell you he was the greatest president ever, he bows to no man, gets things done, speaks straight and does t suffer fools gladly," (etc).

Well dear, PLEASE DO tell us exactly WHAT has been achieved? Creating an internal Gestapo force that can murder innocent civilians on the street, with no legal redress?

Promising that Mexico would pay for that wall - it didn't - and it hasn't been completed anyway?

Paying off a 'lady of the night' (sorry - 'Stormy the model') that he hadn't met, (until pictures emerged), and only admitted to when it was pointed out that if his lawyer HAD paid her off (his initial claim) that was illegal?

When ranting about illegal immigrants, and how he would send them back, had his winery interests quietly trying to hire MORE Mexican workers?

Disgracing USA on the world stage by going back on the Budapest treaty, which guaranteed protection of Ukraine, after they gave up their nuclear weapons when the Berlin Wall came down, and the Soviet Union collapsed? (There was that related promise to "end the Ukraine War on Day One" -- HOW is that going?).

His policies have made it far harder for poor people to access healthcare - that IS an achievement I suppose . . .hardly one to be proud of.

How about that promise for "no new wars" - this ludicrous attack on Iran has cost most of the planet, has cost USA trillions of dollars it doesn't have, killed 170 innocent schoolgirls, has alienated all the countries in NATO, and has upset all the once onside countries in the Middle East, as the Orange Baboon you're dribbling over has caused them to come under repeated attack.

If your hero is fervently against immigrants and crime, please DO tell us why he pardoned a drugs ganglord who was serving a 45 years jail term? Perhaps YOU know how much money changed hands?

Or was his prize achievement the complete fiasco of renovating the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, awarding an uncontested contract to a friend of his from Florida with no experience in such work (that went well)?

Another achievement (of sorts) has been to keep delaying the Epstein files being published, in which he's mentioned as a pa*do on - we hear - thousands of occasions?

My favourite though was his speech (July 4th, 2019) about the patriots of the American War of Independence, when the Revolutionary Army "took over the airports to stop the British using them". Yesssssssss, shame your 'genius' hero, having had a stunted 'education' that involved no history, doesn't know that the Wright Brothers didn't produce an aeroplane for another 120+ years?!!

Maybe that IS his supreme accomplishment - an everyday gift for comedians? Much of the world isn't laughing any more though . . . .

DrWatson Sat 26-Sept-26 06:46:35

For Margs, and Oreo, and anyone else who doesn't read reports too accurately, or possibly at all --- this 'deal' is NOT new.

One more time >>>>> USA had a contract to keep bases on Greenland from the COLD WAR era, back in Truman's time as President. That's 75 years AGO!

Over time, they abandoned most of those bases, as they weren't needed. Now Chump is saying they are, but it's most likely a ploy to go and explore Greenland's vast inland areas to try and find the rare, precious metals that all the major industrial nations want to get a supply of.

DrWatson Sat 26-Sept-26 06:39:57

For Oreo. Yes, it might read that way. But it was Mencken, there are sites which list other funny stuff he penned (Beware -- he wasn't keen on politicians, nor religion!).

If Mencken had plagiarised Twain, or Dickens, etc, he'd have been exposed at the time, (100 years ago), but he wasn't.

NB - it's the 'MARX' brothers.

I’m waiting to see what Trump does to try to scupper the mid-terms.

I wonder if America will roll over?

😁 Sounds like something that Mark Twain or Groucho Marks or Dickens might have said.

DrWatson Fri 25-Sept-26 18:35:09

For the OP and many others, please try and keep up?!! [But thank you 'Elegran'!}. This topic has been discussed many times, in assorted media, since his "we must have Greenland" rattle-throwing outburst.

USA had bases in Greenland dating back to the days of the Cold War, and President Truman.

See Wiki for a full analysis en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_in_Greenland

Over time, USA largely ABANDONED its bases there, but the new 'deal' means that one or two will be reinstated -- in THAT respect, I suppose Chump could be seen to be correct, but as he's gaga and never got past the 'H' of a history book, he's now talking as if it's a wonderful new 'achievement'. The way of the imbecilic but self-praising Orange Baboon.

There IS a strong suspicion that the aspect of military bases is just a handy cover to explore Greenland's remote landscape, searching for handy new precious metals. Though surely a grasping, amoral carpetbagger and all-round scumbag of a PoTUS would never dream of such a pretence?!

In general terms, yes, Chump is ever more hopeless with speeches, especially those where he goes 'off the cuff'. Irrational, bombastic, a crook, fraud and pervert (anyone seen those oft-promised Epstein files?), he's made most of the planet much poorer, including his own public, as hopefully he'll discover on Nov 4th (the 'midterms' have all 435 Representatives being elected, plus part of the Senate, two thirds of State Governors and a mass of other officials).

Unfortunately if when Chump departs (sooner the better) there is still a Republican PoTUS, it's likely to be another grasping, amoral nitwit (Vance is trying hard to get into position). At least the Democrats do now have some plausible charismatic candidates coming along.

I've posted this before, but there are always new readers :- About 100 years ago, an American journalist & essayist called H L Mencken published a number of witty quotes, this one was really prophetic :- “As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

I chose to follow Trumps own idea that if you decided to change the name of something, what you said counted. So as you may have seen previously, I have renamed the white house as The National Lunatic Asylum and it already has the most appropriate resident living there!!

😄 🤣 😂 so right.

Trump, Putin, Netanyahu the three most dangerous men in the world today and Trump is at the forefront. He is at the very best an unstable liar but probably also plain incompetent. How on earth did he manage to get elected twice as president?!

You forgot to add Trump's latest friend, the Chinese president. I don't know how to spell his name. I think it ends in Ping?

He lost the plot years ago, he used to mock Joe Biden calling him sleepy joe etc and look at him, Im a retired Mental Health Professional and I’m seriously saying I have never seen a bigger narcissistic deluded person as him.
I just can’t understand how anyone could support his mad behaviour or how his wife is still with him.

He needs to be called Dozy Donald.
