He says he's come to an agreement with Denmark to establish a military presence in Greenland, with a view to incorporating it into the US as the 51st state.

Denmark are silent.

Don't say he's making it up?

One thing I am pleased about is that his supporters on GN have now seemed to have disappeared.

Perhaps the hard of thinking have finally thought😊

I used to think Trump was a joke but the situation he has put us all in is way beyond a joke.

I find it very sad that, although there are great numbers of very intelligent USA citizens, it is the MAGA idiots who seem to be running the country led by the biggest idiot of them all.

I sometimes wonder if, historically, Europe gathered all their village idiots together, put them on boats and shipped them across the Atlantic.

... it is the MAGA idiots who seem to be running the country led by the biggest idiot of them all.

MAGA individuals in positions of power and influence have a lot to lose if they fail to capture the mid-terms - so it's not really "idiocy" but rather sycophantic self-interest I think. They know which side their bread is buttered.

The idiocy rather rests with those who have no bread to butter and who don't understand that their lives are being controlled by a bunch of wealthy elites, basically oligarchs.

Then I think there's another group of people who are well aware of Trump's narcissistic personality but because he hates the same people they do, they will vote for him, regardless.

Fallingstar, I always thought Starmer looked 'eager to please' with Trump.
One of the reasons he made that dreadful error about Mandelson.
Thanks imaround, will look at your post.

Maybe they will impeach Trump, then they get Vance hardly an enticing prospect.

Here is some interesting reading at least. Nothing will come if it, but it does g7 e a comprehensive list of all his illegal and unconstitutional actions all in one place.

Articles of Impeachment

I also think Burnham did well at the UN and with Trump, he didn’t look uncomfortable or phased by the man and simply took it in his stride. But could just be beginners luck, Trump was ok with Starmer until he wasn’t.

I understand that the citizens of the USA will hear fewer speeches from Mr Trump, as his banning of certain news outlets has resulted in a withdrawal of all media attending his events.
The one clip I did see was of the POTUS words at a ribbon cutting ceremony completely drowned out by the noise of the helicopter behind him.

So let’s hope our media follow suit because I’m sick of seeing Trump on tv every day. I’m sure we only saw previous Presidents occasionally?

We are so concerned about superior Artificial Intelligence destroying us, when it's actually a person with diminishing intelligence who is doing it. 😲 🫨

A man clearly showing psychopathic tendencies.

BlueBelle Wed 23-Sept-26 07:07:42

Has Trump lost it ?
Has Trump ever had it No he’s a rather uneducated fool with a huge eco and brilliant wriggle room ability

David49 Wed 23-Sept-26 06:26:26

Burnham did well at the UN. Trumps speech was significant, it gave him a way out of the Iran war,
he threatened to "annihilate Iran but hoped they would make a deal." then went went on "after the election"

He knows he cannot win but will blame congress for not continuing the war, in his mind thats his face saving way out.

MayBee70 Tue 22-Sept-26 17:28:13

We were happily listening to Ed Davey’s speech on Sky News only for it to be cut short so they could switch to Trumps incoherent ramblings. angry

Whitewavemark2 Tue 22-Sept-26 16:54:59

Another mad speech from Trump at the UN.

The rest of the world is beginning to distance itself I think.

I'm not idolizing anyone. hmm But Trump is still no JFK. His name doesn't deserve to be on the building of another dead President.

👍👍👏👏

The GOP Congress is getting nervous because the polls don't look good, so they are trying to distance themselves. It will work for a few, but I think the GOP is in for a long vacation.

Trump himself is down below 30% finally.

There is no change from the current situation in Greenland and Denmark is still overall in charge, according to a Greenlander I follow on social media. Usa always had a base on Greenland. Trump is desperate to deflect from growing problems. It's another of his dead cats

It’s been reported that the agreement differs very little from one that has been in place since the 1950s.

imaround Tue 22-Sept-26 15:33:09

I haven't read the link yet, I'm still having my coffee.

But rest assured, the majority of people in the US do not support Trump and never have, no matter what he tells you.

42 days.

CNN has this on their website this morning in anticipation of Trump's address to the UN assembly later today. Worth a read if you have a spare 5 minutes or so.

Thank you for the link, foxie48. An interesting read. It is reassuring to be reminded (not least by our friend imaround!) that not all Americans support the appalling Trump.

NotSpaghetti Tue 22-Sept-26 09:24:07

Much of the access and "strategic coordination" under this proposed new deal simply codifies existing practices.

It's a big spin.

I think Denmark had already blocked Chinese and Russian projects in Greenland so this agreement would just secure a formal input on sensitive investments and foreign military agreements for the USA.
I'm not sure if they can veto anything - even if Denmark accepts the deal.

History will not judge this period in history well.
I imagine many years from now when people read about Donald Trump they will utter just one word - ‘why?’

I think people will be saying, how, just how 😱

Whitewavemark2 Tue 22-Sept-26 07:35:09

I hope the media stays strong. It will be fine as long as they work together. Trump will not be able to stand having no access to the media - it is his modus operandi and he is nothing without it.

imaround Tue 22-Sept-26 00:38:40

I choose to be hopeful that we are all about to see our Constitution kick in.

I heard his sound was horrible. Good. He wasted millions on that helipad anyhow.

There was no sound for his broadcast about the helipad.
Karma.
