Reported BBC.
Hundreds of people dressed in black with balaclavas have stopped access, I can’t see who they are.

Black and red. What does it remind you of?
I don't know, apart from an outfit I wore for a Christmas wedding years ago?
Is it something sinister?In answer to your two questions: Really? Yes very.
I will spell it out. The Nazis used to have an emblem used for flags, arm bands etc. It was a black swastika on a red ground.
Many far right and so called, patriotic organisations embrace quite a bit of Nazi doctrine and some even profess to admire Hitler, so the black and red is probably an homage to the Nazis and Hitler.
You are wasting your time. Far more fun to chat about wedding outfits and charity shops.
And I'm not wasting my time saying that the black swastika was not on a red background, as posters keep saying. It was on a white background.

Twitter reporting that it is a protest about small boats crossing.
Local people are obviously upset as it disrupts everything.
Plus, anyone using the ports are going to be delayed.
Hi, just to clear up my post.
I was not saying that the protestors were local.
I was referring to some people from Dover and their MP who had said (on Twitter / on news coverage) that the protest had stopped traffic etc so disrupting everything.
P and O put out a statement I believe about ship sailings as well so I supposed travellers could have been delayed.
👍👍“
Sorry, me being a numpty! (Again!)
It makes no difference to me, a swastika is just that.
Wiki
“The flag of Nazi Germany, officially called the Reich and National Flag (German: Reichs- und Nationalflagge[1]), and also known as the Nazi flag or swastika flag (German: Hakenkreuzflagge), featured a red background with a black swastika in a white circle.”

Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn ugly. I feel that masked protestors seem threatening and rather sinister, if this was just a peaceful protest people would show up without masks.
I agree

I hope there was no violent behaviour. I hope the ferries weren't delayed too long either.
I'm not sure that kind of protest was really necessary.
👍👍

It’s quite simple. Unless this government stops the boats Reform will win the next election. Andy Burnham needs to read the room.
I’ll be amazed if there is a reform at the next election!

Thanks, I don't see the relevance to this thread at all.
This is the latest on my social media news
“That's all for our live coverage for now, but if you're just checking in, here is a recap...
Hundreds of masked demonstrators blocked roads in Dover during what police described as a protest;
A group was seen marching through the town chanting "whose streets? our streets!" and "stop the boats" as dozens of police officers followed;
Dover District Councillor Chris Vinson said it had "brought the town to a standstill" and left "stacks of people" stuck in their cars or workplaces;
An associate of right-wing activist Tommy Robinson, Daniel Thomas, shared footage of the protest in a social media post, saying: "This is our warning";
Another video he shared showed "blood is on your hands" spray-painted on the ground outside a short-term holding facility for migrants;
Kent Police said no arrests had been made as of midday;
Mike Tapp, the Labour MP for Dover and Deal, said he was "fed up with idiots coming to Dover to cause disruption".”

How often do these protests occur in Dover then. Are they regular disruptions? I have a friend who moved there recently. Poor her.
Idiots is probably the right word.

Where is the red?
Just seen I clip, I can’t see any red anywhere!

I know what a swasrptika denotes of course. I am not stupid.
My father fought in WW2.
Many people wear red, white and black outfits and if someone thinks that means they are a Nazi, then that is their problem.
Swastika
Obviously my device dislikes the word.
You can wear what you like but if you are dressed in black and covering your face at a protest in Dover, I don't think it's a fashion choice.
Anyway, nice to have you back.
And again covering faces is common in protests, it is quite late to worry about it now.

I am in no way supporting this protest.
As far as I am aware it was not violent.
As far as I am aware there was no damage.
According to eyewitness accounts on SKY it was not just men, there were women there also.
One female car passenger was assisted by the protesters and shown the way to the toilets and her car waived through as she had children in the car.
I appreciate that this is not a popular protest on GN, but I was not a fan of the pro-Palestine marches nor the JSO supporters who shut down the QE2 bridge for several days. This caused people to miss funerals, hospital appointments and led to far more pollution emissions from cars whilst they were held up in traffic jams for hours.
We either have the right to protest for all, or for none. I know which option I prefer.
Well said. No violence. No arrests. I dislike face coverings of all types but there are some double standards going on here.
The JSO protests were far lengthier and were happening week after week and barely a mention of all the masks.

Have there been other protests where all the protesters wore masks and the same anonymous clothing, presumably to avoid being identifiable, in the UK?
I cannot think of a single one, ever.
Trans activists wear masks all the time. Women facing them became quite accustomed to it. I assume they did it because they didnt want to be identified. Although who knows. I loathe masks but I am not sure what I would feel about legislation against them.
