Masked protesters block Port of Dover

I respect that these people have the right to protest. However, they should have to show their faces. Are they ashamed of what they are protesting against? The masks are what makes it sinister.

Don't Antifa usually wear masks?

I was talking about Dover to be clear not the conference.

As far as I can see it was peaceful, there have been no arrests, and according to BBC they have dispersed now. I see Farage has condemned it.

I hope those awful followers are heavily fined or better still put in prison hideous old people should know better

I believe in the right to take to the streets in peaceful, organised protests that make a point rather than disrupting peoples' daily lives or intimidating them. I have done so myself, many times.

However, this is something else.

I wish they hadn't dressed so intimidatingly though. If they had just appeared to be ordinary men and women their protest would have meant so much more.
I gather local people were cheering them and waving from their flats.

Gloves- no finger prints, balaclavas covering face- cant identify. Predominately males en masse carrying black flags on a sturdy stick. BBC reporters said no protestor was willing to say why they were there.

It comes across less as peaceful protest therefore (though no reports of violence I have read) more sinister and somewhat threatening. Hence that lurking fear- what next?

The BBC reported the vast majority appeared to be male and could not see any female protesters. That they blocked some streets so port workers could not get home then all got on a train to go to another destination along the coast.

Sinister, creepy and very unsettling.

Well they came by train and changed and blocked the streets in Dover today. But didn't really make any clear message apart from looking intimidating (as stated by various local residents)?

It does leave a lurking feeling of what comes next....

I am in no way supporting this protest.

As far as I am aware it was not violent.

As far as I am aware there was no damage.

According to eyewitness accounts on SKY it was not just men, there were women there also.

One female car passenger was assisted by the protesters and shown the way to the toilets and her car waived through as she had children in the car.

I appreciate that this is not a popular protest on GN, but I was not a fan of the pro-Palestine marches nor the JSO supporters who shut down the QE2 bridge for several days. This caused people to miss funerals, hospital appointments and led to far more pollution emissions from cars whilst they were held up in traffic jams for hours.

We either have the right to protest for all, or for none. I know which option I prefer.

Perhaps it would help to know that they are a hard right organisation founded by an associate of Tommy Robison in June this year, calling itself “patriotic Christian’s”

Interesting how many have previous for violent offences- oh but they're no doubt “protectin our wimmin”. All dressed the same, arriving and departing en masse - not a regular peaceful protest me thinks .

Masked protests are very common, it has emerged in I would say the last 5 years maybe earlier.

Yes I know, but perhaps they aren’t nationalists?
