Sad news.

Saw her at the O2 - she was just great.

A talented and generous lady.

So sad. I loved her music.

Aveline Tue 25-Aug-26 20:11:52

Oh no! What a loss to so many aspects of her world. RIP

Bukkie Tue 25-Aug-26 20:10:10

I have just seen this breaking news. So incredibly sad. She always came across as a truly lovely lady with a fantastic sense of humour.

Sad news.
Dolly came across as a fun, kind and generous woman. In a showbiz world she was a genuine, honest and talented, hard-working entertainer.
Dolly was a philanthropist too and I find myself genuinely saddened by this news.
Rest in peace Dolly.

What a singer ! Loved her self deprecating sense of humour. R.I.P. Dolly x

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Aug-26 19:59:43

Dolly was a queen. It's a very sad day

Iam64 Tue 25-Aug-26 19:56:33

Dolly was an inspirational woman, what a voice, what a positive personality.
One of my favourites was ‘it costs a lot to look this cheap “

She was very competent at avoiding being pulled into politics - presumably understanding many of her fans would be anti lift and her left leaning fans loved her

Calendargirl Tue 25-Aug-26 19:55:01

I loved ‘Jolene’, such a haunting song, meant to be about a woman who fancied Dolly’s DH.

ixion Tue 25-Aug-26 19:51:59

Oh no😢
We all loved Dolly🥀

Grandmadinosaur Tue 25-Aug-26 19:50:31

So sorry to hear this news tonight. What a woman. A true legend.

RIP Dolly🌹

I posted on the other thread, which has been deleted due to it's duplication. So just to reiterate, so sorry to read she's died. An amazing presence not only for her contribution to the music world but also her philanthropy. She's going to be missed a true legend.

RIP Dolly

RIP Dolly , so sad . Amazing lady . I’m a country music fan and went to Nashville , sadly didn’t get to go to the Grand ole Opry . Elvis wanted to record I will always love you and Dolly turned him down

MT62 Tue 25-Aug-26 19:42:49

Oh gosh has she died! RIP Dolly.

Visgir1 Tue 25-Aug-26 19:42:38

So sad to hear this, I read she gave up a residency in Las Vagas due to poor health.
Dolly was ageless and always there. Such a sad loss to her family and the world, everyone will miss her, a Legend
RIP beautiful lady 🌹

I'm so sad! Coat of Many Colours always reminds me of my mother. She made all our clothes, often from remnant fabric.

And Dolly's version of I Will Always Love You, a song she wrote, is peerless.

Fallingstar Tue 25-Aug-26 19:36:52

What a legend.
Love her voice, her charm, her strength as a woman, and her loyalty to her family and friends.
Thinking of those family members and friends right now.
What a loss 😢😢

I am sad to hear this, she contributed greatly to child literacy, I am involved in a children services that received donations from her fund very recently.

Maremia Tue 25-Aug-26 19:34:41

One of my favourite celebrities ❤️

CanadianGran Tue 25-Aug-26 19:31:57

So sad, but I know that she had been ill of late.

She left a legacy of wonderful songs, many championing women's rights, and many literacy programs. My grandson receives a free book every month with her program, Dolly's Imagination Library.

I've always loved her beautiful voice, and cheerful disposition. She also kept her private life separate from the media, which I admired.

Smileless2012 Tue 25-Aug-26 19:31:24

Oh no sad she was a one off RIP flowers.

ReturningFromExile Tue 25-Aug-26 19:31:07

Very sad. She seems to have been a nice woman, totally frank about her wigs!

SueDonim Tue 25-Aug-26 19:30:44

We all loved Dolly. 💕

YorkLady Tue 25-Aug-26 19:30:08

ViceVersa

Sad news. Apart from her musical legacy, she was incredibly generous to charity, and her Imagination Library must have inspired thousands of children to love reading.

This… lots of our Grandchildren will have received books from her. 😞

dragonfly46 Tue 25-Aug-26 19:29:42

This is so sad. We are the same age but she was an icon!

Georgesgran Tue 25-Aug-26 19:27:55

RIP Dolly - such an entertainer, but a selfless philanthropist.
She will be missed, but hope her legacy lives on.
