I haven't followed this story closely but as others have said it is completely tragic that someone feels so wretched they take their own life. Sympathies to all who knew and loved him.

Silvershadow, no, there really is only one issue now. A man facing unendurable public pressure has been found dead.

From what I’ve just been hearing in a lengthy interview on the BBC with Kehinde Andrews, Professor of Black Studies, there are huge question marks over the accusations of plagiarism and the motives behind them.

That’s absolutely true but there is the cumulative effect plus a fundamental lack of caring

And where do you go with that. Should people not discuss the salt path couple or actually even Caroline flack (allegations of domestic violence), I always found the narrative around Caroline flack deeply worrying but it was almost impossible to say that.

The sanctimonious pile on on GN was pretty unedifying

Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first build up. He should never have been appointed by Cambridge University who feted him as their poster boy of DEI without doing due diligence. Then it unravelled and they pulled the rug from under him. He was better off where he was before . We don’t know if this was suicide. If it was it could be that he didn’t intend the outcome and it was a cry for help, although more likely fuelled by despair. Where was he to go from here.

All the academics (and not just at Cambridge) who so willingly deceived themselves about his credentials - because they were enslaved by wokery - are surely the at least half responsible for this.

No, they made a mistake, but I would think it was the subsequent 'pile on' that affected him.

We don't know whether anyone at Cambridge offered some kind of MH support or stood by his side or not, do we? Wrong to assume, not. he may have turned help away from pride.
