The OP is genuinely worried, why would you make snide remarks like that? It is right, there's many things we should be worried about, no less a PM who wasn't even an MP who so far has no opposition at all because there's no Parliament sitting. I suppose someone will make a joke about that.

Bottom line is that we can’t do much about the wider issues but we can look at ourselves - aka you can’t change events but you can change how you respond to them.
Also recognised a long time ago as the Serenity Prayer and if we can find a little humour to help us on the way- so much the better.

We are powerless to do much, people have protested in huge numbers for years, have governments of any country listened, no.
We can do our bit but it is a pebble ripple in an ocean .
It is a sad world particularly to bring children into but I am almost vilified for saying that.

After a summer which has been a challenge, I think a challenging winter is ahead. There is not a lot individually we can do. Live within your means. Look out for others. Take care of yourself. Be sensible.
I see people in the hot sun without a hat, with very young children not shaded.
The reverse in the winter. Very young children not warmly dressed in biting winds. Sometimes I despair. But mostly I just crack on.

I do worry about how the next generation is going to cope with the world they've been left.
One of my DGC has just had a story he has written, given an award.
It's a rather depressing story set in a dystopian future but with rays of hope.

I think his stories are his way of dealing with the world he's growing up in. He's 14 now.

Mrs Boring here, I disagree that there is not a lot we can do for ourselves, because there is. We can make provision to cope with the cold, we can buy suitable food, keep our car tanks full, etc. There’s nothing we can do to control the big picture, but we can control our own preparedness.
