Cueta yesterday

Have you seen the news footage? It’s shocking.

Spanish authorities estimate 49,000 men swam over from Morocco to arrive on the shores of Cueta. Looks like an army of young men. Obviously coordinated by someone.

Where on earth did they all sleep last night? Food? Clothing?

Pedro Sanchez is arriving in Cueta around now to assess the situation with officials.

The Schengen area is at high risk. The Italian PM is calling for Madrid to be excluded. If that happens what of Starmer’s arrangement with the Spanish over Gubraltar?

The boarder checks can easily be reinstated. It’s a very short border Nuisance for all the locals crossing regularly

My friends cousin lives there she said they’re scared. Cueta is only a small town less than 90,000 people so only double the size of Urmston. I’d be scared too. They’ve arrived. What to do??

The army is garrisoned in Cueta so hope the locals are adequately protected?

What particularly shocked me, apart from the sheer scale of the numbers crossing, was a report on the BBC news website that Spain’s Supreme Court ruled that they can’t be sent back to Morocco.

Yes I posted that on the other thread - it’s a nuisance having two. The court ruled they couldn’t be sent back ‘summarily’ an important word

I read that Spain had granted 500,000 previous people, documents.

Is the same trip where those poor woman were pushed off the boat & left to drown?
Also, Reports of arson this morning.
Just terrifying. Not just for them but the locals too. Imagine 49,000 landing on the beaches in Kent 😳
