Such a lot of inaccurate, predictable sniping at Angela Rayner. I’m surprised her choice of clothing hasn’t been ridiculed. I wish this administration and these ministers all the luck in the world - for the good of the UK. I don’t care what qualifications they do or don’t have as long as they do a good job.

I don't think being accurate is splitting hairs. Your post made it sound as though she committed the offence whilst a minister. I think the charge was actually misrepresentation ( which ironically enough we see examples of on this thread). . She is apparently very able and did well whilst in post.

Someone mentioned John Major lacking a degree. His childhood was also difficult with an impecunious father and an ill mother, although I don't recall him complaining, and he achieved little at school, but managed to take banking qualifications and progressed to a successful career in the banking world, and later in politics, ending as Prime Minister.

I really don't know where to start wit this misleading, skewed account of AR's life and her success in making something of herself after a very difficult start. Re the stamp duty, she was found to have breached the ministerial code and paid the price. Now she is probably being given another chance. Why not? She's not a serial offender.

What you say about Rayner’s qualifcations is untrue eazybee. She has a level 2 NVQ in Care. Passing an NVQ Level 2 equates to achieving 4 to 5 GCSE passes at grades 9 to 4 (formerly A* to C).

I think this can be reworded more accurately.

She resigned when her conviction ( for which she received a conditional discharge and was spent as it was years before) was revealed in the media. KS had known all about the conviction but shamefully refused to stand by her. She is apparently very able and will be an asset to the government.

I read what she said as that she was offered one of the other two senior roles, but declined. I don’t suppose we’ll ever find out for sure though.

Lucy Powell and Bridget Phillipson have both been seen walking up to the front door of No 10, as Andy Burnham continues to make his Cabinet appointments at pace.

Ms Powell, the Deputy Labour leader, is a close friend of Mr Burnham’s. She is the MP for Manchester Central, so has had a close relationship with him during his time as Manchester mayor.

Ms Phillipson, the Education Secretary, is on the party’s Left and has overseen the policy of implementing VAT on private schools and the removal of the two-child benefit cap.

Interesting to see where he puts Yvette Cooper now Milliband has her old job.

Glad to see Healey as chancellor. Hopefully he will work on our inadequate defence now. He resigned as he felt Starmer wasn't doing enough.

Shabana Mahmood has vowed to “finish the job” as she declared that she was delighted to stay on as Home Secretary.

She had been tipped for a move to the Treasury but Andy Burnham has kept her in post at the Home Office.

That’s a wise decision.
