Farage has ignored Clacton since he won the seat. He has not held a single surgery for his constituents, claiming security issues. Remember he was given £5 million to pay for security, he says. I doubt that many of his constituents have a good word to say about him.

Farage has resigned as an MP for Clacton?
(206 Posts)He has triggered a by-election for Clacton but is saying he will stand again in the election , letting the people of Clacton decide!!
Our of curiosity is anyone from the area on here , did you vote for him last time , will you vote for him again? I don't think what he done is right it was not but, one wonders where British Politics is going it seems the media is increasingly being judge and jury, not sure what I think of this either.
I also think there is a real prospect of success for Count Binface. He has the intelligence to follow through- and seemingly is willing to do so. He may even hold clacton constituency surgeries and make himself available to his constituents- something Farage has. not done. A win for Clacton.
A win for Count BF would be democracy at work and as a result of Clacton's residents' choice exactly as Farage said yesterday he wanted .
No, I don't believe it will reset the clock. It will be paused, then continue if he 's re-elected.
When it comes to straplines then Farage would get 10 out of 10 . When it comes to actual details the marks would be zero. He has not explained actually how he would stop the boats. We do know that Reform wants to abolish the Equality Act so women , the elderly and the disabled will suffer. Yet Farage's followers still think he is the next Messiah despite his DECLARED earnings show he did more work abroad than in his constituency. I'm sure that Farage will get re-elected as his followers do not have the intelligence to ask him for details of his domestic work. The fact that the other parties will not put a candidate forward is the wrong decision . If I lived in Clacton then Binman would get my vote.
Personally I think the other parties have made the right decision- it's more mature not to play into Farage's stunt but respect others may feel differently.
I'm not is sure he will get re elected- and not so sure he will hold onto his 8,450 majority though. Time will tell. Like you if I lived in Clacton C BF would definitely get my vote.

Exactly.
Farage himself has said on record he does not hold MP constituency surgeries in Clacton as he does not feel safe. This is even in the context he has received large £sums, in excess £5million, he said, at one stage, is to pay for his private security. Additionally is also entitled to state funded security to hold MP surgeries- as are all MPs.
The risk of holding an MP surgery is exactly the same for Frarage as it is for other MPs- he is not special. To have in excess £5million cash to fund personal security is exceptional however- no other MP has been given this colossal sum for such a purpose. Yet still Farage refuses to serve his constituents and hold surgeries for Clacton residents.
Clacton residents are not stupid and are aware of this......

100%.
Farage is making quite a song and dance about "his family being harassed". They have not been harassed. A Sky reporter knocked on the door of a house that they had found belonged to Farage (that's called investigative journalism btw) to find out who lived there. His adult daughter (not a kid) answered the door.
In true Trumpian fashion, Farage is building this single incident up into a great fat grievance that he can use to deflect serious questions about where his money comes from.
The money-launderer and the cryptobillionaire have been bankrolling him for years; and nobody knows how much money he's accepted from Russia.
If he thinks that's harassment, he's had a very cushy life.
Great stuff from Reeves!....
It is a farce and a desperate distraction, and the people of Clacton deserve better.
But if he wants to spend the summer arguing with a bin,I won't stop him.
Throwing a tantrum!
All the time this farce is taking place, we must not let the reason for his hissy fit to be forgotten.
Farage has untold money for which he has neither declared to parliament nor explained where it has come from and why.
That is what he wants us to forget - just like Trump and the Epstein files.
I wish he would just ffff fade away ....

Much as I loathe Farage and all his antics, he will get re-elected.
He has complained on many occasions that he is shouted down in the HoC, does he truly think this will improve his persona within Parliament? I think not!
The issue here is Farage doesn’t give one fig about Clacton, Parliament, rules etc etc.
He undoubtedly loves his family and himself.
He could not give a flying cod-piece if he wins or loses as he’s already won in his head.
He’s made £££££m on the back of politics and he is not far off retirement age, already receiving a good fat MEP pension, recognised and revered by his “disciples”, he’s truly living his best life!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a less anti-establish person in my entire life, privileged upbringing, public school, commodities market, MEP, MP & many many side earnings that dwarf most of our annual incomes. He’s establishment from toe to head.
Nigel, man of the people, messiah of the poor down-trodden (my a**e), thoroughly good chap!
He’s won time and time again and whatever happens in both the by/election and the ethics outcome, he’s riding high and laughing at us all, all the way to the bank!
Cossy
Lemonjam nicely put, though although my head says Starmer “needs” replacing, my heart feels Starmer has been treated badly and I hope AB has the country and the LP first and foremost in his heart and head, not just his own personal ambitions.
I hope he pulls both the LP and our country together and continues the good, positive work started by Starmer, which many refuse to recognise.
I'm entirely with you here.
Everyone around seems to be very excited about Burnham.
I hope he can live up to it.

Graphite thanks for the link!
I love the quote from the Independent!
’Count Binface will be Prime Minister. It's only a matter of time’
I wonder what they think now??

Gosh, Reeves has gone up a point or two in my estimation 🤣🤣🤣

This is the one chance the people in his constituency can prove they are not entirely stupid - he had his chance, rarely visited his constituency (or Parliament) and has done nothing to improve that area. If they vote him in again they deserve everything they get - they should vote in Binface as a sign of protest!
Asking on here if anybody is in his constituency is tempting Farage Bots to fill the site with lies!
My prediction is that Farage will suddenly announce in the next week or so that he has changed his mind about standing for re-election, when it suddenly dawns on him that Count Binface could actually win in a two-horse race!
This has shades of the Truss versus the green lettuce photos- appearing day by day in the tabloid Daily Star in 2022- which many of the other newspapers picked up with glee. The Daily Star absurd campaign gained traction and came to pass- the lettuce became limp but outlived Truss!
A picture paints a fabulous story and I think Bin Man will pick up great momentum as weeks go by, both in Clacton and nationally.
AB has a SOH in his photo standing beside his Makerfield Bin Man contender- not sure Farage has the same SOH.
But Clacton won’t be able to choose will they??? none of the other parties are going to put candidates up for the election.
Poor people from Clacton aren’t going to be allowed to have a choice - VERY democratic I don’t think!!
Oh pleeeease vote for Count Binface!
