Should be doable, these laws weren’t handed down on stone tablets.
Governments make laws and Governments can repeal laws, particularly for crims.

I can't believe what I'm reading up thread, such appalling depravity committed against children. The rot was so so deep. We're shackled by principles that many of the perpertrators from whence they came do not share.

Well we were told that a lot of dangerous criminals were only going to serve a fraction of their sentence, presumably he was one of those.

For the life of me I simply cannot get my head around a Godforsaken so called justice system that allows this depraved pervert freedom. Questions around his deportation would be totally moot if he was still in jail serving out 41 years for his vile part in grooming gangs.

Have people not read or heard or do they simply not care what horrors these children suffered? Shipped round the country in the back of vans locked in dog crates to be raped at will by stomach churning men; stomach churning evil entitled men who stood around grinning, laughing, betting on whether the dog they set upon one child would rape her anally or vaginally!!!

I cannot understand why this man is being released early. I knew he had more years to serve but had no idea his sentence was 41 years. Is that really so? Apparently his victim/s were not informed of his release.
I wonder which Human Rights lawyer has been angling for his release?

My understanding was that those convicted of a serious crime can be deported on their release from prison.

As I understand it, although he was stripped of his British citizenship he still holds Pakistani citizenship and, as Pakistan is a Commonwealth Country, according to this ols law he cannot be deported because of the Commonwealth membership. The government can't amend the legislation retrospectively.

I believe that they are exploring ways to get round this.

Lawyers will be queuing up to act for him and you can bet your life he will not be deported.

Why are the anti-immigrant people so ignorant of how the law works. Barristers can't turn down cases, they have to take them on the cab rank rule if they are offered them. I doubt if they get much money for this, either.

At the moment Ahmed has no reason to go to law as he isn't being deported.

Having said that, I think that releasing him before he has served even half his sentence is appalling.

Primrose, barristers ( if that is who you mean in your post) do not "queue up to act" for anyone. The system is the opposite: the individual seeks the services of a barrister via the clerk of their chambers, who allocates cases depending on the availability of each advocate.

I agree TwiceAsNice. He should have had have to served the full term then at least he'd have died in prison.

I don’t see the point of giving someone a sentence of 41 years and then letting them out in 14. They should serve their whole sentence otherwise it’s not justice is it? Yes definitely deport him he will reoffend men like him think it’s their right to rape

Lawyers will be queuing up to act for him and you can bet your life he will not be deported.

I hope so! I think this country needs to send out a strong message to those who come here and break our laws particularly those of such a serious nature.

I'm sure I've read about criminals in Australia, emanating from the UK having lived most of their life there, being deported back here.

He has to go, to do otherwise sends out the entirely wrong message.
Unfortunately as with the majority of sex offenders I imagine this man will just start offending again, is a compulsion.
Those who are home grown should be imprisoned for life or chemically castrated and those from other countries should be deported.
Zero tolerance.
