Will the Belfast rioters be out over this? Thought not.

What would be the point? The man has been brought to justice, found guilty of his crimes and sentenced accordingly.

I don't condone the Belfast riots BTW.

There has been extensive coverage of the trial and verdict of Jeffrey Donaldson in the media in Ireland (North and South). Probably because he was a prominent politician so well known here, but not in UK.
I followed the trial and was interested that the only person to give evidence in his defence was himself!

I don’t understand why there hasn’t been more coverage and public outrage about this despicable couple.

The wife sounds as bad, imho she should be charged with aiding a paedophile. Not sure if this is already the case but if not it should be.
What a ghastly couple.

She is too mentally ill to face a court trial on the charge of aiding and abetting his sexual abuse of two children.

Instead there was a "trial of facts" which confirmed her "aiding and abetting" did happen.

Its not unknown for a woman subjected to sexual abuse, to become totally coerced and controlled by the same or a new abuser. For sex abusers to use threats of worse humiliation and punishment, to enforce silence or compliance.

It’s horrible. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. So many people in positions of power seem to lead double lives.

In this sad case, I vaguely remember that the wife was also implicated GG13.

His wife has been deemed not fit to stand trial. I sincerely hope this isn't some excuse she is hiding behind and has a genuine health issue for basically, getting away with it. Otherwise, it is a slap in the face for their victims.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 22-Jun-26 17:46:28

I read that this afternoon GG13 and the facts of the case were very disturbing. I cannot imagine any wife staying with such a man nor not reporting him to the police. Those poor children.

GrannyGravy, what on earth can his wife have been thinking?
I knew of a case where a clergyman was found guilty of molesting boys in his garden shed.
He had a previous conviction for such an offense, for which he had served time in prison.
At this trial, his wife and daughters were in court every day, protesting his innocence.
He was found guilty and was awarded a further custodial sentence.

Why do women help their men in these heinous crimes?
