I don’t know if police wanted to charge the brother but CPS concluded the evidence didn’t support prosecution. The mother has been charged for her role.
What I am sure of is that ethnicity won’t be the reason. I agree he should be charged

The murderer’s sentence has been referred to the appropriate board for its leniency, according to several news outlets.

The Solicitor General is referring this case to the Court of Appeal. She considers the sentence to be far too lenient, which it is. I think I read somewhere that the decision to award a lower sentence was because the knife was being worn for ceremonial and religious reasons.

The brother should be charged. He made the call to the Police, he lied, and made out that Henry was the aggressor.

I read that today.
Its unbelievable, considering he apparently sat in the police car (i think) discussing how he was going to lie.

The link to the video i put up says that the call handler pushed the conversation on the phone, saying "that's what i needed to hear (or something along those lines) when the murderer's brother hit on the "correct" (racially motivated) word that Henry had supposedly said.

Not necessarily. It would depend on the motive.

The murderer was banned from his temple, as it was believed he was responsible for stealing atound £1000 worth of ceremonial knives.

He had instigated a violent incident against another young sikh man, which stopped when someone intervened.

He had been reported by a neighbour some months before as he was shooting a gun in his backyard.

The call between the brother and police lasted 12 minutes.

The police tweeted (i think) about the murder, inferring that Henry had injured two people.

The murderer was not searched or hancuffed either before being taken or at the police station, so police were unaware he still had the knives or knife on him.

Some of those ‘facts’ seem highly unlikely, e.g the police tweet.

Getting back on track…. I have read that the killer’s Mother will be charged, quite rightly, but surely the brother and Father would be too?

I haven’t heard about what the Father did, but what the mother and brother did was utterly indefensible and much as I hate to say this, had my son or daughter fatality (or otherwise) stabbed someone I wouldn’t attempt to cover this up or hide the weapon.

Neither would I Cossy. It is the result of over identifying with a group. Be it religious, political, racial etc.
It seems the more I look the more this is apparent.

I don't think the charges are to do with this case though Oreo:

They have been charged with six counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place. A search recovered a collection of weapons at the house.

Gurpreet Digwa faces four additional weapons charges for allegedly carrying items in public and possessing an illegal firearm.

ronib, just Upthread, I think your point about responsibility of the professionals involved is something that will be under serious official scrutiny just now.

I’m sure it will, as it needs to, I do feel that there are mitigating circumstances but this doesn’t excuse mistakes, which sadly were clearly made.

I’d just like to add how utterly dignified are Henry’s family, unlike the rent-a-thug mob in Southampton.

Yes, AGAA4, the offence I mentioned could apply to giving assistance after the crime,
and your 'offence' could be about before and during.
