Now I am really worried about the King and Queen’s visit tomorrow.

That’s one way to summarize it.

More accurately: Taylor-Greene witnessed Trump completely reverse his stance on transparency regarding Epstein once Trump was outed as one of the most mentioned names in the files. He then completely reversed his “America first”/ anti-war stance, which he also promised his base. When she rightfully pointed these things out, his vile comments about her encouraged his base to send endless death threats to her and her family. He made no effort to condemn them or encourage it to stop. MJT’s cessation of Trump support was neither overnight, nor does that make her a hater. It merely highlights that there is a part of her that is somewhat rational.

MJT was one of the few Republicans who called out the racist, violence-promoting, antisemetic, anti-woman texts by a group of young Republican males that was made public. JD Vance defended the despicable messages as “not an issue”. Trump said nothing, despite this being national news in the US, and yet he responds to every little slight by talk show hosts and comics. She woke up from the cult, but it was a slow journey.

Taylor Greene had a major falling out with Trump a while ago, went from being a Trump Babe to a hater overnight.

Have just watched a Meidas Touch podcast on Facebook, showing Marjorie Taylor Greene giving a speech at the Ron Taylor (I think) Institute in Texas, saying that the Maga movement is dead and that Trump killed it.
Interesting.

And some people still think that Trump is the answer.

To those who hate the concept of equality and equal representation, he is the answer. To those who hate progress and yearn for a return to a past where women and non-white males had little to no power and little to no opportunity to thrive, he is the answer.

America does has a King! Unfortunately it's Henry VIII.

Now more women will die in states where abortion has been made illegal.

To add, the Supreme court’s shadow docket has allowed many right-wing pushed cases to be heard out of the earshot and eyesight of the American public. What’s going on in the US is blatantly Orwellian. This is the begging of a dystopian future straight out of movie or novel.

BlessedArt Sat 02-May-26 13:17:17

The right-wingers on the Supreme Court essentially stripped Black American voters of their right to true representation. This will have far-reaching consequences for decades.

These are the decisions that remind me of how utterly stupid it was that Obama chose not to push his own Supreme court nominee for a vote before the end of his last term. Democrats were complacent and foolish observing some non-existent, unspoken practice of allowing the election-winner decide the nominee of a vacant Supreme seat so close to a general election. The impact of that gaffe has essentially anointed an orange wannbe-king and stacked the Supreme Court with people pushing for legalized white supremacy in nearly all aspects of American policy. The only hope for women and minorities to not return to second-class citizen status in the US is for several of the older right-wingers on the Supreme to die or retire after Democrats win a general election. There is currently a gerrymandering frenzy taking place in several red states to steal Democratic seats so that there are enough legislatures to rig even more election laws to suppress Black and minority votes before Republicans lose Congress or the general election. Repukes played chess for the last 10-plus years while lazy, complacent Democrats didn’t even recognize the game board.

Of course there’s an opposition party in America MayBee!

This, from Wiki:
^The United States has a robust, two-party system where the party not holding the presidency acts as the opposition. The Democratic and Republican parties consistently oppose each other, with the minority party challenging the ruling administration's policies, especially in Congress.^

I know that. But they don’t have a shadow cabinet with allotted roles do they. And Trump controls Congress at the moment I think?

I think the impetus for change will strengthen and give form for the Democrats. I am confident a leader will emerge, different from the old family hierarchies and past leaders in style and form. What is happening now, under Trump, is so extreme that a broad opposition will form.

It has taken time and will probably take more for this sea change in this huge and complex nation. Wait and see.

The way I see it the Democrats seem pretty rudderless. They need an inspiring figurehead to lead them if they want votes.

It isn’t like here where we have an opposition party. After November it should all take shape and hopefully Gavin Newsom will be at the forefront.

And we all may wish.

Our first election cancellation, mere days after the Supreme Court ruling on the Voting Rights Act.

Red states are now saying they will gerrymander all Democrat seats out at the state level too.

They have successfully destroyed free and fair elections. I can hope this backfires on them and they rig themselves out of power when their base turns on them. A girl can dream.

You would imagine that top notch lawyers would be all over this

Maremia Thu 30-Apr-26 17:41:57

Still not absolutely clear who fired what.
That is weird, as a shotgun blast causes different damage compared to the result of a handgun discharge.

Maremia Thu 30-Apr-26 17:39:28

Not a new conspiracy, but problems are being reported about how the prosecution side is dealing with 'court' procedure in this case.
They do not seem to be following protocol, which is strange, given the importance of this case.

I'm so sorry you are living through this, imaround. but hearing from you is good. lessons to learn.

I am fearful that lessons are not being learned though.

Look where Reform are in the polls.

People are as dopey as the Americans!

How can that ever be legal, in a civilised country?

imaround Wed 29-Apr-26 19:36:07

On another note. The SC overturned the Voting Rights Act, which will now allow states to racially discriminate when gerrymandering.

We are still waiting on the birth right citizenship ruling.

The third link is also very helpful imaround.
The suspect's shotgun was fired.
But they are still examining forensics.

Maremia Wed 29-Apr-26 19:08:13

Thanks again for the second link, imaround, about the Trump supporters.
Some thought he would have learned from his first term.
Well he did. He learned how to more effectively monetise his position.
