America, three headlines today, help me please to understand!

So, this morning, as is my usual routine, I checked out my online news feed, the first three headlines:-

Rueters

“Pentagon considers suspending Spain from NATO and to review UK’s claims to the Falklands”

The Guardian

“Trump threatens big tariff on UK tech tax

The Telegragh

USA blocks Met Police investigating Mandelson.

My point is I really feel disgruntled, 1) USA dominating my news feed again! 2) Someone please reel Trump and his buddies in, for the sake of the rest of humanity and the world!

AIBU?

^You couldn't make it up.^

Trump makes it up every time he opens his mouth.

I wonder why people bother to take him seriously. The effects of what he says are what need to be taken seriously...

I couldn’t agree more, the effects of his ludicrous ranting and appalling actions are far reaching, annoying, dangerous and just down right bonkers!

The common denominator here is Trump. He is furious that NATO has not supported him and he is especially irate at the UK. Therefore he will be looking at ways to make problems for those who left him to his illegal war.
Despite his ridiculous statements that the US have the upper hand, Trump is backed into a corner and looking at a protracted conflict, which wasn't his intention but I don't think he can see a way out and save face.
This should be a lesson to US voters not to elect the elderly as POTUS.

I don’t believe his age is the issue here, however I do think that there should a maximum age for any leader to be elected.

The problem here is Trump, not his age, but his brain/character/personality, he would have been an issue whatever age he was. He’s a narcissistic sociopath, just read what his niece prints and thinks of her Uncle POTUS.

Perhaps in his declining mental state, he thinks he is King of the World, and his enablers are allowing him to reign.

Trump's enablers never envisaged he could be such a vengeful, peevish manbaby.

Throw possible/probable dementia into the mix and we should all be reaching for our tin helmets.

I have never in all my 76 years wanted so badly to spit in someone’s eye and stamp on their feet. I am a peaceable soul for whom this feeling is totally alien but Trump makes me seethe with anger.
He is just the most ghastly human being I can think of. As much a dictator as Putin but whereas we keep our distance from sworn enemy Putin we have to do business with this monstrosity.

petra Fri 24-Apr-26 13:42:25

Fortunately there are no dead cats around that he can throw on the table.

He has that effect on me too, I want to punch him in that stupid face every time I see his photo or on TV and I just switch him off every time he open his mouth!

The people of the US can't do anything until November. The cabinet members and Congress, who can do something about him before November, won't.

What remains to be seen is what he does between now and November to cancel our November elections, because it won't go well for any of them.

Best case scenario, Nov 2nd we vote. Jan 20 all the Democrats we elected are sworn in. Jan 21, he is impeached and Jan 22 he is convicted in the Senate and removed from office.

This is what we are looking at for Nov in case anyone wants a read.

I also want to punch him in the face every time I see it. I stopped listening to his voice years ago, because it enrages me.

War criminal, thief and many other dispicable crimes. But nothing will be done I'm afraid.
What with big business, populism and the destruction of real left and right politics by multimillionaires, it's hard to know how we can get out of this position.

Mojack26 Sun 26-Apr-26 13:57:25

It's Trump weare talking about remember! He's deranged and needs sectioned for world safety! Throwing his toys out the pram like a baby!!! 2nd assassination attempt yesterday... He said it's because he's doing a 'great job' says it all...... deranged

Susieq62 Sun 26-Apr-26 14:03:15

3rd time unlucky as there was another supposed shot within his vicinity at the correspondents dinner!!
Is this a set up ?

rowyn Sun 26-Apr-26 14:11:53

I'm beginning to think that Trump is on the way to dementia.

Applegran Sun 26-Apr-26 14:39:35

Getting rid of a president who cannot be trusted to be rational or abide by law or humane standards sounds like a good idea - but actually making it happen is very different.

A narcissistic megalomaniac is how I’d describe him. And physically repulsive on top.

HobbyCat Sun 26-Apr-26 14:54:57

I believe someone tried to do something very recently but sadly failed 🤦‍♀️

“Will no one rid me of this troublesome President”
Apologies to WS.

Hear hear… one tried again last night but sadly failed. The ‘Assassin’ seems a very nice man!? Unlike his target!

Flakesdayout Sun 26-Apr-26 17:55:24

Yes DT is an awful man in every shape of the form. He has lost all reason and his tantrums are getting worse. Someone has tried to stop him but failed. Next time they may succeed. I feel sorry for King Charles and Queen Camilla having to be nice to him.

Trump never engages brain (if he has one) before speaking.
This just makes him look ridiculous.
He doesn't have as much power as he thinks he has.
Surely the Iranians have taught him that. His two day war is still going on.

& peace between Russia & Ukraine was going to take him even less time than that - he'd need 1 day as president for that I think he brayed.

valdali Sun 26-Apr-26 18:06:52

Yes it's sad they failed.
A life is a life, doesn't feel good wishing he hadn't survived, but he's putting so many people's lives at risk around the world every day he remains in power.

I can't look at his face!

imaround I sometimes wonder if, in fact, Trump is the Useful Idiot for even more dangerous people who are behind him. Listening to Trump is frightening because he is incoherent and like a spoilt toddler, but looking at some of the warmongers and listening to the utterings of such as Hesgeth and Vance is terrifying.

imaround Sun 26-Apr-26 18:34:09

That is absolutely the case IMO Allira. Steven Miller is where we need to start looking actually.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-Apr-26 18:44:05

Yes Miller

JennyCee Sun 26-Apr-26 18:46:56

I was becoming worried about getting myself well and truly angry about this disgusting man and wondered if my sanity
was needed looking at. I then read the two pages here and I’m normal!!!!! Horrible, horrible man.
