Appalling news. Really. They sound vile.

Fallingstar Fri 24-Apr-26 13:53:48

I don’t think that these rapists/criminals are fleeing persecution in their own country but more likely fleeing the law, facing jail time in their country of origin.
Imho there are gangs coming here to continue their crimes unabated. Which then makes it really hard for genuine asylum seekers.
I have no answers but think that vetting asylum seekers in the first country they arrive in would save a lot of trouble down the line.

The way I read this was that the men would be deported after sentencing, to serve out their prison term in their own countries. That seems the best possible outcome for such a horrible crime, and should prevent them being a risk for a number of years.

Agree. Why should UK taxpayers pay to keep them in UK jails.

I welcome immigration. Any immigrants committing serious crimes should be deported automatically.

The reason we're in this situation is because of the silence. People who speak out are called far right racists and worse. I'm sure the enlightened will be posting soon: not all asylum seekers are bad, escaping persecution etc. Time to stop all the single young men flooding in and take in families.

I read the actual details of this rape and was sad, angry, disgusted and shed a few tears for this poor women. When will we put our own women and children first.

Quite. I thought Sarah Everard's murder was a turning point in making the streets safer for women. I don't see any signs of it, if anything it appears to be getting worse.
There is a migrant hotel close to where I live. We have had instances of men from here walking around naked and high on drugs and sadly, even more cases of young girls being approached, sexually assaulted and raped by some of their number. Their court cases were heard in the next county in the hopes they could keep it under the radar. The UK is in a sorry state.

Sarnia: that's absolutely horrific. I had no idea it was that bad.

I usually get told that I'm a follower of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. I know quite a few people who are in favour of open borders. They're the type who say they would be happy to take in an asylum seeker, but never get round to doing it. I'm just sick of this complacent Government.

One of the asylum seekers had his application refused the day before the attack.
When exactly were the home office and the border force going to his address and take him to a holding facility ready for deportation 🤷‍♀️
Maybe they phone them giving them time to disappear into the black economy🤬
Where did the money come from to visit several bars and nightclubs in the area. That was stated in the court records.

That’s a good point, is it a loophole, or are there too many failed asylum seekers, to make it feasible for them to be kept in detention? I wonder if there are records of how many disappear after an asylum claim has failed.

I posted a couple of comments over on the Epsom thread which were really more relevant to this one.

This was an awful crime, and these rapes and sexual assaults, sadly not that infrequent are committed by people who want sanctuary in our country, supposedly because they're fleeing dangerous regimes and persecution. That begs the question, why do they come here, break our laws and disrespect women and girls in the most hideous of manner?

It also makes me wonder, is there any programme as to inculcating them into exactly what is expected here particularly as to how they should treat women and girls, or in this case how they shouldn't treat them. I believe that was something that was rolled out in Germany given how many men they accepted from countries with entirely different attitudes. It also seems, possibly they regard the UK as a soft touch for all manner of things, to behave how they like at the expense of the tax payer. These individuals were staying in a hotel close to where I live now.

I also wonder if given how it's in the public domain how many of such assaults that have been committed against girls and women whether any monitoring goes on or if they're just free to go wherever they please.

I absolutely think those who commit such appalling crimes should be deported and whilst I don't support capital punishment, I can't say I care too much about a criminal who has murdered in his homeland and who is under a death sentence, how did he get here in the first place, whether he is returned to his own country to face the consequences, given the crime he has committed here. I can't feel sorry for such people because they bring their wicked ways with them, I'd like them gone.

Finally, it besmirches all the asylum people, the decent ones get homogenized under the one umbrella, because of the criminal element among their number just aren't dealt with effectively, way too many appeals, too many lawyers trying to obstruct the process, more tax payers money to fund that, which just feeds into the ground swell of public opinion "stop the boats"

These men who commit these violent rapes seem to think women are for the taking. I am appalled for the victim, and I also wonder what life is like for the women who live in whatever countries they have come from. Just regarded as trash to be used when available or kept under strict guard.

And we let them in without restraint.

And some of the proposals on this thread send them back without restraint too. That can’t be right either.

1960srelic Fri 24-Apr-26 09:47:40

No capital punishment for any crime. There is always the risk of miscarriage of justice, always. What about Andrew Malkinson and Stefan Kiszko?

Cossy Fri 24-Apr-26 09:42:55

I want the boats to stop, I want the lorries still sneaking in, to stop.

I want Asylum Seekers processed thoroughly and quickly and those not meeting the criteria sent back.

I want those human rights lawyers who encourage said AS to lie to be struck off.

However, I also want people to understand and recognise that many AS, who’ve made arduous and danger journeys to reach our shores are not rapists and murders.

Rape is never right, it can never been excused. Men rape, men from many different faiths/countries/nationalities, sadly there are men like these across our world.

I know some of you won’t agree, that’s fine, given the events in our sad world there’s many displaced people, they have to live somewhere and we need to accept our share.

I agree, those commiting crimes of any nature, when found guilty, need to be immediately imprisoned and when their sentences over immediately deported.

If convicted of serious crimes - like this, I think they should be taken direct to the airport and put on the next plane back to their country of origin, regardless of conditions there. It might be the best deterrent out.

Let me be clear, I would not do that to anyone accused of a crime that did not physically harm or threaten someone in a serious way. But rapists, murderers, trafficking, back they would go.

It should be ANY crime!

Yes, they are absolutely vile and if deported, who's to say they won't be raping women in their own country? Capital punishment should be carried out when guilt is proved beyond doubt. It has become apparent that so many of these men coming here on boats are criminals, we don't want them here, this country has enough of our own criminals to deal with.

Absolutely agree.

How would people be sentenced for a crime if they were sent back on the next plane immediately M0nica? Surely it would be dangerous to send them back without sentencing, they would be free to commit a similar crime again, either in their own country or elsewhere?

I don't think we are in the situation because of silence. I've yet to encounter anybody who things unrestricted migration is a good thing.

What is being done to stop them? According to yesterday's press we have now paid the French a total of £1b to stop the boats. That's been money well spent, hasn't it?

I think a new deal was struck this week with an additional £660million for France to provide 50 police officers trained in riot and crowd control tactics to stop the boats. As if that will really help.

I am rather sceptical of this and previous deals

France along with other European countries have an influx of migrants/asylum seekers, I imagine they are more than happy when these folks leave their country to seek asylum elsewhere.

After all it saves them money and probably gains them X’s in the polling booths…

I wouldn't describe 15 replies since 18.48 yesterday as ^deafening silence^*Kandinsky*.

Of course it is a disgusting crime and of course the men should be deported ASAP. Arguably, they should never have been allowed in in the first place.

It must have been a terrifying ordeal for the women and I hope she receives proper support.

I really don't know what else there is to say and I am afraid that all I have written is really just re-stating the obvious.

Funny how threads about these dreadful incidents involving asylum seekers never get that many replies…..the silence is deafening.

MartavTaurus Fri 24-Apr-26 05:43:40

So where's the posters who unconcernedly say that this is proportionate in numbers to our own UK rapists? That it corresponds in size?

It's happening all over Europe - France, Germany etc too. You only have to open foreign newspapers to read about it.

It's too many, too often, and too little is being done to sort it.

barmcake Fri 24-Apr-26 04:32:31

We've got enough rapists and murderers of our own, we don't need to import any more. One of them said 'rape is sex'. Nationalities who are known to have this attitude towards woman should be completely banned.

After the rape they went back to their tax payer funded hotel and had a party.
