Is anyone actually surprised? They will literally try anything to get into the UK.

I feel really sorry for the genuine asylum seekers , awful that they have to compete with these economic migrants who lie through their teeth.

I completely agree.

Cossy Thu 16-Apr-26 08:37:06

Not great, but what is worse is those solicitors and advisors encouraging this.

IMO, I understand why they are doing this, but it’s wrong and they need to be honest.

There are countries where gay people are persecuted, pretending to be gay, or have nothing else wrong, makes it so much more difficult for those who are genuine.

I was listening to a gay man saying that being gay should not be one of the claims for asylum as it is impossible to prove, I don't know if I agree with that, but i watched the report and it was obvious that the lawyers and many of those interviewed were quite homophobic.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Apr-26 08:25:01

Anyone seeking asylum anywhere who needs to lie raises doubts to the validity of their claim.

It also contributes zero to the cases of the genuine asylum seekers…

It’s long been known by anyone involved in immigration law tribunals that men appearing to appeal the rejection of their initial application, will claim to be gay and Christian. I know of one, asked a very easy question about the Bible who had absolutely no knowledge of the faith he claimed would lead to his death if returned to country of origin

Yes. And it really upsets me because I knew the victim of one of these lying murderers, and she, and her family would never ever lie. 😥

MartavTaurus Thu 16-Apr-26 08:12:41

The problem as I see it, is that by lying, their stories then have to be investigated at great length, at great cost - with all sorts of experts involved - while a lot of desperate people ere can't even get a GP appointment.
Then the wishy washy Home Office accepts their claim, and so onto the next dozen or more cases.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-Apr-26 08:12:10

I find these sort of threads QI.

MT62 Thu 16-Apr-26 07:56:42

Just watched this. Disgusting! Lawyers are telling them to go to those gay meetings & pretend.
They must be desperate!

Allsorts Thu 16-Apr-26 07:21:47

Cannot the bent lawyers be sent off some where, they certainly don't value tge UK. I hope they are struck off and assets seized.

Macaydia Thu 16-Apr-26 07:20:37

All of you just think about how awful it is to be a dirty lying immigrant without thinking how blessed you are and how desperate they are to survive, not die, take care of their loved ones. Elderly and children. I would lie too, in order to survive.

eazybee Thu 16-Apr-26 07:18:04

But arguing that because a man has had a child and was married he could not have been gay all along is quite inaccurate, as I said, it used to happen all the time to hide being gay in the UK for centuries.

Still happening, you know, in the most surprising places.
Direct proof that such men are liars

It has been mentioned before, even on GN, but dismissed…

Calendargirl Thu 16-Apr-26 07:04:09

I don’t see what the fuss is about frankly. It’s going to be tackled

Really? Do you honestly believe that?

I know I don’t.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Apr-26 00:38:29

Which murderer had you got in mind, nanna? No case recently comes to mind at all?

nanna8 Thu 16-Apr-26 00:04:57

Is it any different from murderers who suddenly claim mental health issues for the first time? I suppose they know that the UK and some European countries are a soft touch. Probably a lawyer has told them to do this.

Wyllow3 Wed 15-Apr-26 23:32:42

Indeed it is, and quite right to stop it. But arguing that because a man has had a child and was married he could not have been gay all along is quite inaccurate, as I said, it used to happen all the time to hide being gay in the UK for centuries.

Many have mentioned this over the years and been called racists or bigots.
Now the saintly BBC call it out it’s a different kettle of fish.

At last. Undercover work has exposed what many of us have been saying for a long time.

It was quite right for the BBC to report it once it was properly investigated and proven, evidence all gathered, and action to be taken.

I am generally aware of new reporting, and haven't seen this before, where was it reported previously?

Where have the claims come from above " I knew all along" shock horror come from?

I could only find this GB news report of one man and it's clear that he is actually gay. How many gay men, in the past, in the UK, have not only married but had children and led a completely secret gay life? thousands, thousands, before it became OK to come out as gay.

It's most certainly wrong to claim what you are not: it's proper for the BBC to report once the investigation has been concluded: I don't see what the fuss is about, frankly. It's going to be tackled.

when you read the readers comments in the article I posted, there you see the real nastiness.

"So the UK is the new Soddam and Gommora" how predictable.
🙄. Pretty anti gay, if you ask me.

Pretty anti gay, if you ask me.

I would think that someone pretending to be gay when they are not in order to deceive is pretty nti- gsy myself.

I did see the BBC report. It is not just a few isolated cases, it is a business.

JenniferEccles Wed 15-Apr-26 22:39:46

This is not new news. The Daily Mail, about a year ago I think exposed this scandal of corrupt lawyers advising illegal immigrants to pretend to be gay.

There were even some who were at the airport ready to be deported when they
decided they were gay. Needless to say it worked.
Bearing in mind that they would certainly have had criminal convictions to have got to the deportation stage, it should fill us all with horror that these individuals are still here.

You couldn’t make it up.

My words exactly.

Why does it take undercover reporters to find these things out angry.

I don't think there's anything saintly about the BBC calling this out FGT's it's embarrassing that they have too.

Sago Wed 15-Apr-26 21:55:32

Yes one immigrant in Yorkshire claimed he was gay.

He had 3 children in the UK to three different women.
