Kanye West has been booked to perform at a concert in London despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism.

Just seen that the entire Wireless Festival has been cancelled now.

That’s what I thought would happen.

Just came on to say that.

Ban him and everyone of that ilk from entering the UK.

Well, if this is example of their standards then I'm not surprised, nor sorry.

Well done and well done Wes Streeting for speaking out on the lunch-time news.

Of course he should be banned but I doubt he will be. Bi polar does not make you say vile, hateful things. That’s nonsense.

Actually it can make you say the most hurtful things if you are on a high.

He’s been banned.

Very silly of the organisers to put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak. That said, it was right to ban him.

Doodledog Tue 07-Apr-26 20:22:08

So the government did 'have the bottle' to ban him. Rightly so, IMO.

Don’t suppose there’ll be any apologies for jumping to conclusions.

Process.

Is this not the mysoginist who paraded his current wife/mistress/girlfriend nude at some awards ceremony?

Why did she agree to that? I can only imagine that she either thought such a stunt would further her career or, behind closed doors, Kanyou-Believe-This-Guy is the kind of character who readily settles any difference of opinion using his fists and feet.

Bi-polar? Yeah, sure......

Good for Starmer, showing a bit of sense.

Not knowing anything about her, I lazily asked chatGPT - apparently her near-nudity is part of the expression of her Art. She's an 'architectural designer' and does hold a bachelor's and master's degree in architecture from the University of Melbourne.

She's now Head of Architecture for West's 'brand'.

All I can think is - what a waste of degrees.

I assume their relationship has an 'unusual' dynamic. Not one I would want any part of, and not something I think should be paraded in public, but if it is consensual it's up to them. I don't see what her qualifications have to do with it, or how it would further her career.

Who knows why people do what they do where things like this are concerned, but I really don't think outsiders can possibly draw conclusions unless they are very familiar with the people involved.

His antisemitism, OTOH, may or may not be his personal opinion, but he has no legal right to share it with the rest of us, and I am pleased the PM refused him entry to the UK. As the festival organisers were prepared to go along with it until the ban I have no sympathy with them either, although I do feel sorry for the 'little people' who will have been expecting to get some work out of it (bar staff, security etc).

So should John Davidson ( the man with tourettes at the baftas) not be allowed to travel to other countries?

She must be an exhibitionist and probably richer than many architects who sit at a drawing board (sorry, computer!) all day.
But at what cost? Her self-respect.

Apparently she is 'A performance artist' too, whatever that means. I think it means showing off.

Ps

I remember seeing some poor woman walking down our main street naked many years ago. Someone ran into the police station to tell them and a young policeman came, took off his jacket, put it round her and gently escorted her to the police station where they called for medical assistance.

I would think that he wouldn’t dare to, as he may well flip the bird to airport security staff or tell them to f off. It wouldn’t be worth the hassle for him.

Oreo Wed 08-Apr-26 12:25:36

I think it’s the right decision in Kanye West’s case as we have more than enough antisemitic numpties already here. Also he’s an influencer.

Galaxy Wed 08-Apr-26 12:52:05

He does travel though, he has some funny stories about airports as you can imagine. I just do think it is interesting the allowances made for some disabilities ( which I think are correct allowances) and then not for others. I think Kanye west is a tosser but I am afraid I also think this is a very easy thing to do, whereas tackling the antisemitism that has been in full view is much trickier.

Anniebach Wed 08-Apr-26 12:56:49

Did West have a disability for decades?

Galaxy Wed 08-Apr-26 13:07:57

But we don't make allowances based on the length of someone's diagnosis. We make them as soon as someone has a disability/ illness.

Anniebach Wed 08-Apr-26 13:12:38

Who confirmed he had a disability?

Me?

IMO he should be allowed, yes. It's a totally different situation. Are you arguing both sides here, or is that a serious question?

Galaxy Wed 08-Apr-26 13:23:44

It has been widely reported that he has either bi polar and or autism, now of course that could be a lie but presumably that is the case for any well known person with a disability.
