Kanye West has been booked to perform at a concert in London despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism.

Why say “ I like Jewish people” ?

I don’t think people are saying that KW is responsible for antisemitism, but he certainly tries to perpetuate it, which is why I think KS made the right decision in banning him. Doing so won’t make it go away, but perfect shouldn’t be the enemy of good, and banning him was a good thing IMO. If nothing else it shows that his behaviour is not sanctioned by the state.

Agreed.

Oops. Support Starmers decision, it is therefore fine to have opinions that don't support him on this issue.

Does that mean you don’t support the ban?

Yes ferry, I can pretend I don't know if that is what you want. People know fine well what is influencing the rise in antisemitism in this country. It is not
Kanye west.
It is a mixture of Islamic extremism and the 'progressives' excusing/ tolerating that.

Well I certainly agree with that!

From what I can see, the majority of people on this thread support starmers decisions, it is

Doodledog Sat 11-Apr-26 16:42:56

That seems to be about the size of it. It's been like this since the GE. I can't be bothered to engage with it any more.

So, as I understand it, if Mr Starmer allows Mr West to come to Britain, he has " no backbone", and if he refuses entry, he is "performative".
Is there anything he could do regarding this gentleman which would meet with the approval of these posters?
Perhaps they could suggest something?

It is just a word I used. I, as anyone on here would know, tend not to follow fashion or the 'in' thing.

👍 😆
It's a good one all round!

“Performative”?

So, some posters effectively saying PM hadn’t the balls to ban him. He does and it’s “performative”.

Can’t win, can he?

Brilliant! I'm in good company then with KS, because two weeks ago my posts, on fashion of all things, were seen as performative and staged by one poster!! 😆 Performative must be the in word.

I see the KW ban as a sensible case of damage limitation. But that's not enough because it doesn't address the root cause. It's not enough in the bigger picture, but I'm not sure what can be done.

Galaxy Sat 11-Apr-26 11:05:42

I am not those posters though, so I am expressing a different opinion.

I think the same Allira , antisemitism is hatred of Jews, hatred is hatred

I don’t think it will decrease risks against Jews, doubt anything can, it has always been allowed regardless of “Never Again” ,

But his entry here, especially if he spreads propaganda, however subtly, might make matters worse.
He has millions of followers, apparently.
Goodness knows why.

I agree. Risks to Jews have increased and more since the war with Iran started.

I think it is performative. Do I think it will decrease the risk against Jews, no. A risk which I think has been allowed to grow unchecked with very little resistance from politicians.

Anniebach Fri 10-Apr-26 22:25:21

To say refusing him entry is meaningless Galaxy , you think meaningless to Jews ?

I'm on the fence TBH having heard Kayne West's apology and willingness to make amends.

Apologies just so he could continue his career

This should have course have read -

In fact, do you know for sure that any of those who carried out any of the 3700 reported attacks on Jews in the UK in 2025 are NOT followers?
