I’ve been following the initiative, which is an important part of the govt strategy on VAWAG, I find it hard not to feel that appointing Mandelson did so much to undermine the strategy, and Keir Starmer’s positive record there.

Mollygo makes an excellent point about Phillipson’s nonsense on boys wearing skirts, the two good high schools locally now have trousers for all pupils. The pupils all look good and much warmer.

Talk on facebook about something called family voting where groups of people influence other people at the polling station. Don't quite understand it all though.

Reform say it is happening with Muslim voters. That tells me they are expecting to lose and following the Trump playbook.

It was an independent organisation that was there that noted that there was a lot of "family voting" going on!!!!

Yep.....in other words = a man being allowed to accompany his wife (and adult children) to the booth to physically watch them casting their vote!!!!!! One way of making sure they can't cast their own vote their own way - as he is spying on them and regarding himself as that figure we used to have (in the PAST) that regarded himself as a "head of the household".

There will still be that figure from the history books - called "head of the household" in some communities. Hence it's particularly vital that everyone voting does it in the standard way and goes to that voting booth on their own.

I found it distinctly worrying to think there will have been however many men it was forcing their wife etc to vote their way rather than leaving them to vote their own way. A precursor too for them generally not living normally - ie each person deciding everything for themselves and not looking to Mr Self-Important Bully to make their decisions for them.

I've been very active for the Green Party way back when personally - but I would dearly love to kick that candidate/now MP firmly up her little backside one way or another.

Yes, I'm sure . It seemed to me obvious that it was nonsense with a racial dimension, but it is good to see that it has been proved untrue.

Cariad's views are seldom mine either but I didn't see anything that I'd have thought warranted a ban.

With very rare exceptions I am always sad to see people go, whether I agree with them or not, and also, I don't like to think of anyone disappearing because of illness, and we never know whether that has been the case.

I also miss GSM, but don't understand why she is held up as a saint. She did post things that will have hurt posters, and offering free legal advice doesn't neutralise that. There have been a few bannings recently, and I can't help thinking that those who have vanished without fanfare might get fed up of seeing posts about one poster and nobody bothering about them. It can often take a while to notice someone has gone, as people go on holiday etc, so unless there has been an explosion it's not always immediately obvious.

You all do realise that police finding no evidence means only that…that they’re unable to find evidence not that it didn’t happen.
There are murder cases where they’re unable to find any evidence and the crime is never solved.

Posters on this forum do seem to love dissing past posters don’t they? Any excuse will do.On the subject of finding no evidence there is no evidence that CariadAgain has been banned so why start a conversation about it?
Posters can be ill, in hospital, on holiday or just plain bored with a forum.

No, I wasn't. I am not going to repeat a post I made about 10 minutes ago, as people can read it themselves, but anyone with reasonable comprehension and no desire to police the thread and cause bad feeling is likely to see it as 'dissing'.

The evidence is that, “He lost!”

It isn’t the job of Democracy Volunteers job to pursue the prosecution of individuals. There’s their mission statement.

The legal definition of family voting is when two voters either confer, collude or direct each other on voting.

The DV report published on their website says nothing about the the age, sex, relationship or ethnicity of the people observed so how this was extrapolated into allegations (by Reform) of Muslim men coercing their wives is beyond me - unless DV have underlying data that they revealed to Reform - which would be highly unprofessional and a breach of data protection.

Here's the GMP statement. Note is says:

The observers do not allege any verbal instruction or physical conduct that indicated one person was directing or coercing another regarding how to vote. This is a crucial part of the legislation to prove such an offence was committed.

I don't think anyone is holding GSM up as a saint and there are other posters who have made some fairly hurtful and unpleasant comments to others but are still posting. I didn't always agree with her views but that is normal on a site where views may vary.

I wondered where CariadAgain was too, again I didn't agree with her views necessarily but have no idea why she should have been banned, if she was. Perhaps she left, is not well, or other reasons.

Sometimes we never know.

I agree and think in earlier times, some women did defer to the 'head of the household' and vote as their husbands did.

Not my mother, though! She was always independent-minded.

So, the Police verdict is 'no evidence' of family voting.
