Just when you think he can't stoop any lower, this vile man has posted a video on his Truth Social portraying the Obamas as apes. He should be arrested for racial harassment but of course he'll just laugh it off and get away with it. Disgusting.

Busy man? Seriously? How much have the US taxpayers forked out for his far too frequent golf trips.

Casdon Mon 09-Feb-26 11:06:40

That’s not an excuse. In the same way that Starmer is accountable, so is Trump.

If you post something on your personal social media account, by default you endorse it.

He is a very busy man and maybe didnt see it all? Just trying to keep a measured view!

The vid wasn’t made by Trump.
Yes, he strongly disliked Obama and Biden and Harris as he viewed them as rivals and wants all the adulation for himself.

Casdon Mon 09-Feb-26 09:36:01

There are none so blind. Why was it the Obamas who were depicted as the monkeys? They are the ones with the influence, they are the ones Trump fears.

Oreo Mon 09-Feb-26 09:11:57

The wrongness came from Trump putting it up on his own SM site. It’s an insulting short vid of Democrat politicians that had been doing the rounds for a few months.
It’s yet another childish and poor judgement call from the President.

We don’t need to question obvious racism, however cleverly it’s presented

Not my view of it tho.

We must question everything. And today more than ever.

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 09-Feb-26 08:59:59

Well, Meandrogrog, I saw the pictures.
Could you clarify what you mean by
" Question the validity" and " Question what we are fed"?
My understanding is that no one has denied that these images came from the White House .

They just don’t see it everywhere.

They don’t see it in a mocked up photo of black people being depicted as apes? (Which is what this thread is specifically about). Wow.

The thing is you see ( or maybe don’t) that not only was Biden also depicted as an ape, the mixed race Democrat Kamala Harris was depicted as a turtle.
If this had been all about racism then she would have been depicted as an ape too, and the white Biden maybe cast as a snake or other animal. In my view it was meant to be insulting to Democrats and funny to Republicans but wasn’t about racism. The bad thing was that the President put it on his Truth Social page.

Fallingstar Mon 09-Feb-26 08:55:05

Thanks for that Oreo.

When people try to muddy the waters around racism it plays into the hands of those who wish a particular group of people actual harm. We are not discussing ‘whether‘ the image of the Obamas is racism because it absolutely is. And denying racism occurs or that people are overly concerned about this is a very dangerous nonsense.

Antisemitism isn’t just considered to be racist Oreo, it is racist.

As a Jew myself I know that. 😉
I was giving the poster who asked me the question the official or standard answer to it.

I find a lot of posters on here, particularly noticeable from those on the political left, to be completely and utterly obsessed with the word racist. Anyone who objects to illegal immigration is obviously racist and it just goes on and on and on“.

This thread is not about illegal immigration. It is very specifically about the disgusting depiction of the former President and his wife, by the incumbent president, as apes.
Do you or do you not acknowledge that as racist?

I always think we do not get to see the full facts on this or any other issue that explodes on the news. My feeling is that we get “fed” and fall for what we are told without questioning the validity. None of us are privy to what the president knew or intended. Its important to try to maintain some degree of perspective and question what we are being “fed”. One example of this is the post from Whyllow3 which to me sounded more like the writers fevered imagination. I would just sound a caution not to get too indignant.

Oreo do you consider antisemitism to be a form of racism?

It is not whether or not Oreo considers anti-semitism to be a form of racism.

It is whether or not it is widely considered to be so by academics and scholars, and whether or not is is prejudice against a group or race of people, which most agree it is.
Yes, it is widely considered that it is, although some have tried to argue against this in recent times.

Meandrogrog I have seen it and heard it. Heard it in front of me. Heavy duty patronising is one example. Subtle exlusding people from groups another.

The full on racism that we are discussing in the O/P is one extreme - much of the time its subtle, carelessly thrown in, almost without thought.

Assumptions about what people will be like or their feelings are without actually engaging with anyone. it's happening all the time.

I have talked to people from different cultural origins who have grown up with it all their life.

...and its often the people who don't think. they are racist, becauase they cant "See" or "Hear" it, that are the hardest to deal with.

Just read this page.

I admit and own some of these memes: it costs little to self examine and think, "oh, so that is racism.

O MG. Where did that article come from! Never would I or anyone I see or hear ever say anything like the quotes in the article. I wont even repeat them here as I would feel too ashamed to type the words, even though it is to rebut them.

Then you haven’t been paying attention. Racism of the type outlined in the article is regularly seen on this forum.

I have not been aware of any racism at all on this forum in any posts I have read.

Oreo Sun 08-Feb-26 17:04:06

It’s considered to be a form of racism LizzieDrip but it’s also mixed in with religious prejudice as well.

GOP Republican Senator Tim Scott called the vile post 'the most racist thing I've seen out of this White House'.

Just used to banging head against wall, WWM.
