But my goodness, how wrong I am.

Bruce Springsteen - thank you.

Indeed...but...maybe there will always be struggles, and always those who fight and try and change things for the better, and like others here I'm amazed how protest has come again like the phoenix -

but of course in other countries round the world, it has never gone away, or has come and gone.

Wish all of this nostalgia was for a better reason.

I thought it was Bob Dylan singing the song, reminds me of the 1960’s.

It really sounded like him, didn't it as in Blowin in the Wind.

But they've never left me, and there are a whole generation of 20 somethings coming up that I know through politics whose values echo the 70's, and one passed this Joan Baez onto me

Yes, AmberGran, possibly in 19 countries.

You've probably heard of the band Muse. Their song "Uprising" is a very spirited tune about taking our power back.Although Muse is from England the lyrics really resonate here in the U.S.

AmberGran Fri 30-Jan-26 15:07:47

Springsteen went straight to number one on the day it was released apparently.

There is a brilliant one by Demon Flying Fox on Facebook - it is about Greenland and the song and video are both brilliant.

The Boss!! His last tour dates opened with a tirade against Trump. What a furore that caused back home ! You cant have listened to his lyrics all these years without getting an insight into the man. And now he's done it again. GO Bruce. And btw we need another tour asap❤️

Thank you for that Whitewavemark2, I don't listen to current music as much as I should,I'm 76 so I remember all the protest songs, good to know Bruce is still speaking out.

Happy Sunday Birthday WhiteWave 🎊 🥳

Bruce's song will probably get more airplay but the Jesse Wells one is definitely more rousing, can't believe the crowds in the protest, we haven't seen that on the news here in the UK.

You’re not watching YouTube regularly enough Whiewavemark2, there are new ones literally every day on there. Mr Newberger is one I watch. There are also some great Canadian ones. I’ve been following Bruce Springsteen, he always says what he thinks, which I admire him for.

Go Brucie ✌️💪

Oreo

I don’t think that protest songs have ever gone away.

I think you could be right Oreo. Have seen songs sung by Iranian singers on YouTube in protest at the what the Iranian regime have been doing, mainly when a young woman was murdered by the morality police a few years ago, but could be more now.
