There was an interesting piece in Haaretz yesterday that made a strong case for creating one state out of Israel, Gaza and the west Bank, giving Jews and Arabs equal rights and giving it a name which recognised it as a state that was neither Israel nor Palestine. It wouldn't happen of course, too many extremists on both sides. Written by an orthodox American Jew who's a regular visitor and commentator on Israeli life and politics he made the point that Israel, which was supposed to be a place of safety for Jews, is actually the most dangerous place to live, Jews are safer living in the diaspora and the war is making Israeli Jews less safe in the future.
