He's not an elected MP with a seat in the Commons.

He's Lord Mandelson, politically rewarded by PM Gordon Brown with a seat (for life) in the House of Lords. As he hasn't been convicted of a crime or served time in prison his HOL seat is much unassailable unless he chooses to leave.

If Labour bans him from the party, he can still choose to sit in HOL as an Independent.

Trump is delighted to be honoured by all the pomp and ceremony that he loves " not only once but twice but hopefully not a third time". I hope that too Mr Trump!

I’m pleased to see most posters agree that the balloons were stupid and childish.
Protest by all means, but find something a bit more meaningful to express your opinion.

Meanwhile the royals, despite how any of them might feel about Donald Trump put on a magnificent show for him and for the good of the country.

From what I saw, Camilla is wearing the Belgian sapphire tiara, and The Princess is wearing Queen Mary’s lovers knot tiara, which is her favourite. I’m a tiara spotter, I’m on the look out for them wearing different ones, but sadly not this time.

I can understand why people here can't stand Trump. I find him intolerable too but I think those inflated balloons look ridiculous and don't show us in a good way, rather childish.
Unfortunately it's in our own best interests to keep Trump on side.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth understood and implemented
the rule of ‘respect the position if not the person’ - entertained despots, unsavoury rulers, controversial Heads of State and perceived enemies with grace and aplomb, kept her political opinions to herself, although perhaps she kept a journal.

There weee plenty of anti Trump protesters in Windsor. Our friends and family there are not Trump fans but understand that pragmatism is necessary in this political climate.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the events unfolding today with the usual flawless military precision.
I’ve loved watching it all, this evening’s banquet in particular was so interesting to see what the ladies were wearing.

I think the invitation for a second state visit for the President was a masterstroke in nurturing US/UK relations, and it seems as if he is thoroughly enjoying himself.

Windsor it appears had the pro Trump suppporters while the anti brigade were in London waving those ridiculous Trump baby balloons.
Still freedom of expression and all that…
