Man made famine - the world should be ashamed

The IDF have acknowledged as true the high level of civilian deaths. But of course the excuse (although recognised as a war crime) is that the unfortunate civilians are human shields.

But it doesn’t stop there. And this is where the argument breaks down. It is clear from the following figures that Israel is not only stopping all aid entering Gaza, it is also busy destroying any possibility of the Palestinians producing their own food

Fishing industry - completely destroyed

90% of the industrial assets in food production - destroyed.

62% of roads - destroyed.

82% of agricultural wells -destroyed

71% greenhouses -destroyed

90% crop land - destroyed.

26% sheep left

34% of goats left

3.8% cattle left

1.4% of fowl left.

It is clear from these figures that israel has almost completely destroyed the eco-system that is needed to sustain life.

It is a deliberate policy.

Cossy yes I do mean that. Think about it. Israel will never allow a repeat of the situation which led to the October massacre. Israel is redefining the boundaries in Gaza as it sees fit. If it still doesn’t work out, then I guess there’ll be war for another 100 years ? I don’t believe that the occupants of Gaza will be wiped out- but I do think that land will be reallocated in Gaza. Netanyahu is too astute to follow the example set by Hamas. Hamas wants to wipe out all Jews. Easy to forget isn’t it?

Annie, during The Troubles the IRA launched many mainland bombings in Britain with many killed and injured, they were a terrorist group that also murdered many people in NI and knee capped and tortured those they let go.
The ANC in SA headed by Mandela also killed people and caused injury and so were labelled a terrorist group, that is why Mandela was arrested.
The Kurds- allies of the west - have a group the PKK in Turkey who once had a campaign which involved bombing tourist resorts and killing innocent people.
Am sure you have sympathies for one or more of these oppressed groups.
But they are or were labelled terrorists for fighting oppression.

Easy to forget or not care in the first place?
Yes, Gaza will be changed forever where the boundaries are concerned and will likely be much reduced.Blame the Gaza government for that, it was all their doing.

It is most certainly not 'all Gaza's doing'. Palestinians have been harried and bullied by Israel to such an extent that of course they've rebelled. Israel has created this army of freedom fighters by their own behaviour.

Perhaps because both goats and cattle can be milked and hens provide eggs, kill them and that's a food source gone for ever.

No one is supporting Hamas, never, however it’s not strictly true is it to say this is all down to the Hamas act, terrible and horrific as it was.

Israel have been creeping into Gaza for decades.

I agree LizzieDrip, when a person cannot see what is in plain sight there is nothing to be gained from pointing it out to them.
But right now increasing numbers of western governments and members of their populations, who supported the Israeli government to begin with, are becoming disgusted and distressed by what is happening in Gaza, and Israel - previously the darling of the west - is becoming a pariah state, isolated from all bar an erratic and volatile President in the US.
As Dylan once famously sang ‘the times they are a’changing’, and am certain that just as Hamas cannot ever come back from this neither can the reputation of Israel on the world stage.

I think that those who support Netanyahu forget that those of us who have shown compassion and empathy towards the civilians, non supporting Hamas Palestinians do NOT in any way shape or form think what Hamas did is justified.

Creeping into Gaza is a bit vague? Israel is now claiming even more land in a settlement called E1 I think. Something needs to be done to improve living conditions in Greater Israel. It’s a country constantly at war. However there’s very little that the West can do or is doing to improve the situation. Arab countries seem lined up to attack Israel at every opportunity. It’s all hopeless with no sign of improvement. It’s a mistake for the UK to posture as a friend of Israel imo when it’s sitting on the fence.

I agree with your last sentence ronib. The UK IMO shouldn't be posturing as a friend of Israel; the UK shouldn't be seen to be friend to Israel in any way, shape or form.

Is there anyone the UK should be supporting? We seem to be in isolation after Brexit.., the USA doesn’t need our support. I guess we’re helping Ukraine and that is another hopeless cause.

@ronib which Arab countries are lining up to attack Israel, those bordering Israel don’t want to get involved and end up with the IDF bombing them as well, plus the US has paid them handsomely to toe the line. Jordan was even instrumental in shooting down Iranian missiles heading for the Israel. Which leaves Lebanon, hardly a threat anymore. Also, Iran isn’t an Arab country and has few allies in the Arab world.
The populations of these countries might feel anger and outrage but their governments are pretty good at dealing with dissent.
Tbh nobody can really touch Israel, Iran trued and gave up pretty quickly. And that is because they have nukes, a dome of iron, and a massive army supplied with state of the art weaponry. For a country under attack one only needs to compare the untouched turns and cities in Israel with the moonscape that is Gaza.
As for the Oct 7th attacks, in a country like Israel that should never have happened, there was a sizeable lapse in security for a very long time but that it is for Israel to investigate.
Hamas can use all the hyperbolical threats they want but they know the game is over and has been for a while, there is no way they can ever wipe out all the Jews in Israel, that reads like a line from a fantasy novel, but Israel can and is wiping out as many Palestinians as possible.
