Other European countries are increasingly discouraging/removing illegal immigrants. A day or two ago I read in either The Times or The Telegraph about Denmark's clamp down. The government there realised what damage large scale immigration was doing to the country. Quite remarkable what Denmark has achieved.

I think the people in the camps don't neccessarily have their passports, ID documentation, qualification certificates etc because the manner of their arriving there means that they basically journey with what they can carry.
If we accept them without documentation, on their word of their qualifications / experience, we are likely to get a lot of people who can't do the job we went over to cherry-pick them for.

We are short of a number of occupations, why are we not going to the camps and cherry picking English speaking professionals

1 Nobody is obliged to stay in the first "safe country" - that's a myth. If it were true, countries with a Mediterranean shoreline (and others) would be inundated.

2 Under international law, refugees' right to be granted asylum is based on the danger they face in their home country, not on the usefulness to the UK.

I agree about them being sent right back over to a safe country such as France but regarding cherry picking the best of them, well how long do you think it would take to get false papers drawn up saying they were brain surgeons or the like and then disappearing as soon as they had the chance once they were on our shores.

You can't send people back to France or anywhere else without permission of the receiving country.

This has nothing to do with the human rights issues/claims etc. All countries across Europe have the same issue, ie deportations have to be agreed with the country of destination.

The fact that he was still.waiting for a decision on Asylum says everything you need to know about Labour.

25 years is nothing and it will not surprise me if either he gets his sentence shortened. Or gets off on appeal, If he has a family. Supported by s bunch of very nasty, but smiley faced, middle class, bleeding heart liberal types. Twats masquerading as do gooders more like.

Also the cost of his prison stay should be reimbersed back to us by the Egyptian Govt. As should all prison costs incurred by foreign governemt with any foreign nationals imprisoned in the UK.

Stomach turning.

The fact that we don't process theses people properly from the minute they step onto our shores is key here.
Airports have passport style machines that take photos of people as they travel. I realise that these people destroy their passports but they can still be photographed and fingerprinted by computers so that we can begin to build an individual profile and block criminals coming into our country and hopefully stop some people from having multiple names/nationalities.
We are, after all living in a computer age with all the gadgetry that can accommodate this so use it!

If theres a risk of them absconding after the court has said they can't stay in the UK surely they should be kept somewhere secure whilst the paperwork for deportation is completed.

For some reason there are STILL people on here who (in my opinion) choose to believe that asylum seekers should stay in the "1st safe country ".

I think that surely people must understand the law eventually as it's explained SO often...
I'm not going to hold my breath though - given that upwards of 2 percent of Americans still believe the world is flat!
