“Sir Keir Starmer has stripped seven Left-wing Labour backbenchers of the whip after they rebelled against the Government over the two-child benefit cap.
The MPs, including Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow chancellor John McDonnell, voted in favour of a defeated SNP amendment to the King’s Speech on Tuesday that would have called for the cap to be abolished.
The Telegraph understands the suspensions will be reviewed in six months’ time.
The other six rebels were Rebecca Long-Bailey, who Sir Keir defeated to become party leader in 2020, Richard Burgon, Zarah Sultana, Apsana Begum, Ian Byrne and Imran Hussain.”
