Urmstongram, I think you’ll find that Mr Anderson was born in Sutton in Ashfield, which is In Nottinghamshire not Yorkshire.
My DH is a proud Yorkshire man and would like the difference pointed out.

Can someone please tell me what “Supporting British Traditions” actually means? Do you mean having Roast Beef for Sunday lunch, Fish & Chips on a Friday, Going to a Christian Church on a Sunday, watching football, celebrating Easter and Christmas - is this what you mean?
Far as I can can see no one is stopping anyone following their own traditions??
I don’t know what all the fuss is about tbh.
They will all disappear after the next election just as all the other extreme right wing parties and their supporters have disappeared.
Apologies re Yorkshire. I stand corrected. 😊
As I have explained Whitewave it does give me a place to put my ‘X’ on the GE ballot paper (hopefully). Perhaps I’ve found my tribe.
what I’m sick and tired of is people, including some MPs, holding this small minority of our population responsible for all this country’s woes and failings. Of course no one want violent criminals roaming unfettered around our country, whichever country they were born in. I totally agree, Cossy and I too tire of the ill founded allegations when anyone tries to show some understanding of and sympathy for the people making perilous journeys, being exploited by people traffickers. Having this understanding does not mean supporting 'throwing the gates open' to all and sundry.
People like Tice know this is the truth for most decent people, but they whip up hatred by spewing out things which they know are not true; sound bites and economic nonsense which will appeal to their followers who will not be minded to fact check.

No I don't think you have Urmstongran, you are a better and nicer person than this mob of chancers.

I tire of the political inertia in tackling this and in particular the £13 billion a DAY (just let that settle for a moment - it’s mind blowing) that this is costing us.
Money that could be spent on beefing up our Armed Forces for example?
Honestly HPQ I think other ‘nice’ people will vote for Reform UK.
(says she, blushing).
Thank you though for such a compliment to me. Appreciated.

As you can see from some posts this is becoming an entrenched belief in some people.
It's one that I find deeply ironic in view of the fact that our 'proud history' includes occupying a large number of other countries, completely uninvited, and imposing our traditions on the indigenous populations...

Doesn’t count.
British exceptionalism.

😂😂😂
Nothing could be less surprising than a xenophobic racist joining a party full of xenophobes and racists.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Agreed! They’re welcome to each other. He’s a vile man and Reform is a vile party - made for each other.
Yes indeed. Irony of course a Great British Tradition

This govt has no intention of funding our services, they’ve systematically cut it! Neither would they use this money to house the homeless, put up disability benefits, fund education or health or anything else which would benefit Mr and Mrs Average.
Whataboutery is all very well BUT utterly meaningless!
I completely agree that this govt has utterly failed on migration, whether it be economic migration or asylum seekers!
I too think you’re far too nice for the Reform mob!

Absolutely!!!!!
Urmstongran, I totally agree with you. This is great news for our country. Well done Lee! Reform UK is the only party with any common sense and that will get us back on track and get rid of all this woke nonsense. They will save us from global control.
How will they do that? They won’t be in government.
Btw how do you expect the UK to exist without global trade?

Will Anderson resign his seat and go for re-election. He signed a motion supporting this view, that any MP changing to another party should resign and go for re-election?
Of course he won’t!We will have a GE in months. Why bother at this stage?
It is the right and democratic thing to do as a matter of principle. They should stand on their own merits.
The majority of the people in his constituency voted for a Tory but they no longer have a Tory representing them.
This should happen every time an MP of whatever party resigns from his party or is suspended from it.

It's like an extreme extension of Brexit. Let's cut the UK off from the rest of the world...
'Global trade'? Pouf. A mere bagatelle. We can manage fine without that... 😆
I don’t think Reform has said anything about cutting ourselves off from world trade? Ben Habib is a British-Pakistani businessman who speaks sense, is articulate and knows his onions. I trust him with his business acumen.

I think that this is the perfect place for 30p Lee.
The Reform Party seems very clear on immigration, but rather hazy on other matters, such as the economy, the NHS, education, defence etc. I believe that all of these matters are important and will impact hugely on the life of all of us, perhaps as much as immigration.
Maybe he does say " what a lot of people believe" : that doesn't necessarily make him right. There are groups would deny women safe termination of pregnancy, there are folk who will tell you that the death penalty deters crime. Are these people right ? Or do they simply share a viewpoint?
Perhaps you should download and read their policies and plans, instead of just following the far left tropes.
They are even in favour of PR in elections, many on the left also advocate this.
I have read their policies and plans, Freya and I'm not the only leftist/centrist Gnetter who has. Being in favour of PR doesn't compensate for the more damaging ones.

Yeah, but you trusted Johnson... you were nauseatingly full of praise for him.
Maybe you shouldn't be so trusting
