I have been lucky enough to have only had to consult a pharmacist once. They diagnosed an infection which needed anti-biotics, which if they had been able to prescribe I would have taken. However, they couldn’t so I went to the nearest small injuries clinic. I didn’t have an infection, - they did describe to me exactly what was happening and I went my way without needless anti-biotics - the injury healed very well.
So that is the only example I have. So perhaps more training and experience is needed?
