Gordon Brown originally wanted him to answer questions on his brief in parliament, but that was refused, and instead there was a monthly House of Lords question time, which MPs were not permitted to attend. The difference is that although on the cabinet Mandelson did not hold one of the great offices of state as Cameron now does.
