Have we forgotten Ukraine?

Ukraine still being reported here but the headline news is still focused on Israel/Hamas.

But I do see less interest in the community and general population. Both conflicts are SO WORRISOME in scope - one false or wrong move or statement can set off a much larger, destructive war. That would affect all of us.

We should all be concerned and worried about our Congress, Parliament, other Allies doing the right thing in supporting Ukraine - if they fall then Putin will keep moving west. And if Israel loses its grip what will that mean for their country and the antisemitism rearing its ugly head globally?

Let’s not even bring up Iran, China…

What is the difference between women, children, civilians killed and and injured in Gaza and Ukraine. Can't recall Russia ever being asked or complying with a request to allow humanitarian aid in or have a ceasefire. Ukraine has been given a back seat by the media in my view.

As far as Ukraine is concerned, I'm surprised no-one has had a go at bumping Putin off yet.

I'm also surprised at the Hames/Israel situation. Hamas attack Isreal, Isreal defends and fights back, everyone seems to against Israel. I just don't understand it

songstress60 we can be concerned for our home community and those in other countries. I pray for all those in danger, or in need, and in any small way try to help them.

I hope that should we in the UK ever be attacked by warmongers that people elsewhere in the world would be concerned and try to help us, just as we should/can do for them.

Oh my goodness, yes. Really big trouble. Ukraine are fighting for us all. I hope they are not forgotten as the very cold winter comes on, it’s extremely harsh out there in the winter.

I have been wondering what advantage Putin and the chinese president are taking while the media are concentrating on Gaza and Israel. I thought that china would have taken the opportunity to invade Taiwan. Maybe their arms industries are making profits from supplying arm to the combatants
After WW11 I remember being told that the WW111 would start in the middle east.

Iran is backing Hamas. And Iran and Russia are allies. Could it possibly be that Hamas slaughtered the Israelis at this particular time to take media attention off Ukraine? If so, it worked!

If only! I wake up each morning hoping to hear news. He certainly is hated by many and that includes the oligarchs too. I believe any change would be an improvement. Things just can’t get worse under Putin. But maybe I’m wrong.

Yes, I can't believe that people believe that nuclear submarine means that a boat necessarily carries nuclear weapons.

It's like thinking a nuclear power station is a weapon.

Not that I am a fan of nuclear power, I should add.

Ukraine and Gaza together are causing problems for the US, it cannot supply enough artillery shells or air defence missiles for both. There was already a shortage before the Gaza conflict began, now there is a big problem.

To make the situation worse Trump is leading in the election polls and republicans are refusing to support more arms supplies to both conflicts. In the meantime Russia is on a war footing and increasing weapons production. Others are beginning to question sending supplies to Ukraine because it’s a war they can’t win.

NATO has to be careful because if the war in Europe does spread depleting its own defensive capability might further encourage Russia. It’s all very well saying an attack on one member is an attack on all, if you don’t have the weaponry to fight a war it means nothing. Many NATO members don’t have enough including the UK, although defence spending has been maintained the fighting ability has fallen

It's wrong Ukraine news not being on Its so sad wherever people are being killed Ukraine was different from usual wars it wasn't tied up with religion and was so cruel no good reason for it

My husband and I have been supporting a family from Ukraine. Mum and 2 children. Been in UK since June last year. We have secured their own rented accommodation and all is well. They have returned today from a 3 week holiday in Ukraine to Dnipro where they come from. Seems all is well they just prefer life in UK while her husband is still working as a bus driver in Ukraine. The mother & teenage daughter who stayed with us for 9 months went back to Ukraine for the whole of the 6 week summer school holiday. They returned to their 2nd sponsor as she can save more money here! from her benefits and life is easier. They are from zaporhizia. I find it strange that they holiday in a country at war.

We were out this morning and popped in to a Ukrainian drop in centre. We have been before as they sell secondhand books and odds and ends and you can have coffee etc.

It was really busy. Lots of Ukrainian women chatting, there was an English class going on, some were knitting and there were lots of donated stuff piled up for when the next lorry goes out there - duvets, coats, pushchairs, baby baths, blankets etc.

They use a disused former ladies clothing store and it is decorated inside to look quite homely.

You are very complacent, if Hezbollah join the war there will NOT be enough missiles to maintain the Iron Dome protection, they have longer range larger missiles as well. We have seen from Gaza Hamas still launches missiles despite being bombed for a month by Israel. Iran will easily supply more weapons to prolong the war if Hezbollah do join in.

The US has plenty of high tech powerful arms, but this is a low tech war being fought with bullets and artillery shells. Ukraine has been very limited by supply of weapons, morale of the army is quite low because losses have been so high and gains so low. Zelenskys leadership is now being questioned, unless vastly more supplies are sent they are going to have to accept the loss of the Donbass.
Gaza has brought that much closer
