Crikey. This is good stuff. I welled up when I heard Tobias Elwood and Theresa May speak. Even Leadsom. And Peter Bottomley. I won’t say the effect Rees Mogg had on me….
Rees-Mogg - Pretentious piffler came to mind. Penny Mordaunt has done the right thing though, which can’t have been easy, credit to her.
It was said on the news this morning that neither Mr.Starmer or Mr.Sunak would be in parliament to vote as they both had previous commitments, not sure how true this is though.

You can see the speech Starmer made in Leith today. I doubt he could have organised the speech and trip to Scotland at short notice. I have no idea what Sunak was doing today but someone else may.
Sunak was meeting the Swedish PM at Downing Street, they were photographed together earlier this afternoon, and he is in a series of meetings with him, it was on the news just now.
I’ve been very disappointed with Tobias’s voting record ( although I understand that it’s very difficult for any Conservative MP to go against the whip) which is why I was so moved to hear him speak today. I’m rather hoping that Rees Mogg is digging his own political grave today: I hope his constituents are listening.
I don’t know what that woman was talking about. As for Cash, I never know what he’s going on about. I’m surprised that Peter Bone isn’t there. I see my MP has turned up.
I thought it dreadful that Penny Mordant was the only person on the front bench. Is this the cabinet showing that they are too important to bother to turn up?. Wonder if they will vote. There have been some brilliant speeches (Teresa May was superb0 as well as some sheer drivel .
Thinking it’s a disgrace that all MPs should not be required to cast a vote one way or the other. Democracy is at stake here and all of them should have attended to vote unless they presented a really good reason not to. In which case it could have been cast in some manner in their absence. As for the poor showing of the cabinet surely it says just what a useless shower we have as a government. Was beginning to warm to Rishi Sunak but his weakness has changed that.
The vote to pass the judgement was overwhelming, but many Tories didn't turn up to debate or vote:
"Conservative MPs who voted against included Sir Bill Cash, Nick Fletcher, Adam Holloway, Karl McCartney, Joy Morrissey and Heather Wheeler - while 118 Tories voted in favour.
No vote was recorded for 225 MPs, because they either abstained or did not turn up to vote."
