Trial by the media is so common now. I don’t know what has gone on and am not a fan of Nicola, but she was bound to resign with such a public interest in her husband. She obviously loves him and he comes first as mine would with me. We don’t know what he’s said to her and what she made of it. Hope for her sake he is not guilty. The saying hate the sin but love the sinner holds true. When you have a close relationship you have the choice, do I stay or go. Not a good place to be if you kept to the rules. The awful press attention is more than most if us could cope with. Look how Cliff Richards was treated!

Which is factually true.

Posters on here strayed into saying who they thought was guilty of a crime that we don't even know ever happened and what people would think of it in the future.

Which is dangerous speculation.

I'm just back from shopping. I wish I'd photographed the news stand. Every newspaper headline about Murrell was splashed over the front pages along with screeds of text. Journalists are having a field day. Obviously didn't have the benefit of Volver's early youth!

Also, that event was not a criminal investigation with the potential to involve a trial, but was a breaking of the "Rules".

It was the crime of the century for some on here and nothing less than life imprisonment, even death, should have been the punishment.

I don't remember you being so reticent in discussing the police investigation into Boris Johnson and partygate volver. Although to be fair, he wasn't actually arrested was he?

When I was younger, everybody knew that you didn't talk about cases that were "under" the police. Even wee bairns knew that if you talked about it and either gave something away, or accused somebody of something, or whatever, then that wasn't allowed. Whether it was about the laddie who stole sweeties from RS McColl or about the Prime Minister, you didn't talk about it, much less put it in writing.

Private Eye have a shed-load of lawyers at their back and I'm quite sure they phrase things to make sure they stay on the side of the law. I don't expect many Grans have phalanxes of lawyers behind them. (Except maybe GSM )

Remember that this case is still under investigation and that writing anything that would prejudice the case is out of order, even if you don't believe it to be the truth.

Released without charge! Good! But what was all that about?

I think he could only be held for a certain amount of time, maybe 12 hours, then would have to be released, probably with instructions to remain contactable.Sadly, the damage is done, and in time will be remembered as he and his wife stealing the dosh for their own use.

I would never trust an organisation that could not see the dangers of having a related couple...holding the two key roles in an organisation.
