Sorry FC but you couldn’t be more wrong there, I’m guessing you can’t be a football fan. Lineker is on top of his game, football commentary is very hard to get right because you have to be so knowledgeable about the game, unbiased, even tempered, amusing, and appeal to viewers from the elderly to kids. Love him or hate him he is very good indeed at the job.

My guess is that the BBC have been leant on by the government - Big Brother at work.

Yes those going on about free speech will defend his right to speak whilst pointing out that it includes all speech not just speech we like that's the problem. He isn't the first this has happened to. The BBC cant really do this alone it has to be a commitment of society as a whole.

I am no fan of Fiona Bruce but that looked to me like someone panicking at the risk of legal action because of the use of that term. I have talked many times of the fact that he punched his wife in the face, it's easy for me to say that though, he us unlikely to take action against me.

This together with the suppression of episode 6 of David Attenborough's new series {, for those who can get it, only on i- player]and the continuining employment of the biased Fiona Bruce and Laura Keunssberg makes me wonder how many licences will be cancelled.

Well he is being sued by the taxman for millions so maybe he needs the money and I am not sure Walkers are still paying him.

Do you watch it, I’m in a football mad household so I do. Gary is an ex first rate footballer, and he’s knows his stuff. Scripting will only cover the main points, not the banter, which is why MOTD is so popular. Adrian Chiles is a nice guy, but he doesn’t have the same street cred with the fans. A journalist isn’t ever going to be in the same league as somebody who’s worn the shirt as far as fans are concerned.
