I think some of the sympathisers have to live with this to understand it, I’m lucky that I don’t live with it, simply read the crime reports in the local paper, but my husband is saddened to see what has become of the town of which he was so fond.

New immigration bill - how on earth will it work?
(539 Posts)So the latest wheeze from Sunak is to export every single asylum seeker who arrives on our shores, who have not gone through the proper channels or “safe route”
So,
Can anyone explain what safe routes are available.
Can anyone explain the countries willing to accept these exports?
Rwanda has agreed some sort of mutual export agreement - so they will take a few hundred in exchange for us taking theirs. So I’m unclear how that will reduce the pressure - if it ever gets off the ground.
Can anyone explain where all these people are going to be held whilst waiting export, as the law is to apply retrospectively.
Can anyone explain how the Tory government is NOT breaking international law?

How true. My grandson sold his bike ( he’s 16) because it’s one that the county line scroats want.
Neither grandchildren can go into Priory Park which is right on their doorstep. That’s a joke because as you both know you could spit on the police station from there.
Then we have the county line scroats dealing outside Chase Acadamy.
I’ve personally witnessed 3 thefts of phones from peoples hands in the pedestrian area.
I’ve witnessed the proverbial black Audi being pulled over with police carrying guns, twice.
Our Godson is a police officer working on County Lines, it is really scary out there…
Having just driven home from that nice hotel on the seafront there were numerous PSCOs along with Police Officers along the central shared space section

Sorry, only the wealthy CAN afford to escape this.
You all ought to be glad that some effort is being made to preserve your country's borders and your lifestyle. The current government in the United States is wreaking havoc on the public with their open border policy. If you think this constant absorption of people into your country from all and sundry is doable, I invite you to come and live on the southern border or in the southern states of the US and see the horrific consequences. Imagine you live on the border of Scotland and, for whatever reason, Scots and people from all over the world are flooding into your part of the country. They are destroying property, killing livestock, robbing, looting, and killing anyone who stands in their way. Then they move into the interior and southern part of the country. In every large city where they arrive, they are given sanctuary and the governments of those cities do not prosecute them when they commit crimes. Eventually, homeless camps arise and the cities become unlivable. You think that can't happen to right-minded liberal cities? Check out New York City and how many people are leaving. People are flooding out of California. People are leaving Portland, Oregon, etc. where they never met a tax they didn't love and they embrace every crack pot social idea that comes down the line. What they don't seem to realize is, if they take their voting and social sentiments with them, they will wind up living the same kind of life. It is affecting the poor and middle classes in an unbelievable way. Only the wealthy can't afford to escape this, but even these people don't want to stay in New York or like places. The subways are full of graffiti, and you take your life in your hands to travel on them. San Francisco and other such places are littered with needles, fecal material, and some pretty unsavory people. With these people come the dreaded fentanyl and people trafficking, kidnapping, etc. Our liberals and socialists just keep throwing money at these problems and excusing the takeover of city streets and the persecution of local citizens. In Seattle, they called it the Summer of Love. 🙄 People lost their businesses, were attacked, and threatened constantly.
I am not sure who it was who said it (sorry, been away for a week, and just catching up), but the comparison was made with illegal drugs.
Being unable to stop the evil drugs trade and those who profit from it, it is easier to imprison the addicts, the victims.
This is what we are seeing with people smugglers and their desperate victims.
This is why there is a problem with migrants being in hotels
‘Most asylum claims from small boat arrivals are still awaiting a decision; more recent periods will naturally have a higher proportion of asylum applications awaiting a decision, as less time has passed to allow for applications to be processed. 98% (28,529) of small boat asylum applications in the latest year, or 83% (43,476) of all small boat asylum applications since 2018, are awaiting a decision.’
The whole report is well worth a read.

Is that all you care about?
Do you care about the people suffering due to large numbers of immigrants being housed in their small communities? ( & large ones for that matter ) do you have any sympathy whatsoever for communities whose resources are already stretched to breaking point?
No one wants 100’s of them being housed in hotels 5 minutes from where they live.
These people have a vote.
And although I was certain Labour would win the next election I’m not so sure now.
The next election will be won or lost on the immigration issue.
So let’s just wait & see.
Why do you think all the asylum seekers are housed in hotels and kept waiting for their status to be approved?
Why can't the government fast track some of them?
Why are they not permitted to work?
Why are they in deprived areas?
You might almost think there was a policy to stir up discontent and unrest. To cover up the awful economic mess the Tories have got us in. But that couldn't possibly be true, could it?

Quite Kandinsky. As far I’m concerned people arriving in the UK other than by legal means are illegal immigrants.
As far as I'm concerned people who call all asylum seekers illegal immigrants are racist bigots (just as far as I'm concerned of course!)
Aside from misleading remarks by Braverman that there are millions or billions of would-be immigrants heading for the UK there are some completely false social media posts about immigrants getting more benefits than pensioners in the UK. See this Full Fact page for an explanation. These posts are obviously aimed at stirring up anger at refugees and asylum seekers.

I said ‘As far as I’m concerned’, Maizie. I didn’t purport to make a statement on the law.

That is not what international law says.
Nor' really, what our law says. You're innocent until proved guilty.

Do you think all immigrant men ( & I mean the illegals arriving in small boats ) are all lovely, humble, law abiding citizens who will never commit a crime here?
Be interested in your thoughts.
I said out of interest I googled and no stories came up on the first page at all (I didn't look further) I have already acknowledged there are specific issues relating to Albanians coming here and to France, it is well documented.
I live (and work) in a multi cultural place and some cultures (men) do tend to congregate in groups. I've never had any reason to believe I'm at harm in my own community and I have no idea if they are immigrants or not (white or otherwise)
It's weird how women don't tend to congregate in groups isn't it?

If you’re arriving in a boat in the middle of the night - from a perfectly safe country - you’re not legit.
Exactly.
Just been reading this article in todays Daily Mail.
Plans to house 400 asylum seekers in tiny Welsh village of just 1,500 people are branded 'wholly unsuitable
Around 150 'predominantly male' refugees would be put up in disused hotel
Another 250 would be housed in 'modular accommodation' in its grounds
Those living in the village, which has just 1,500 residents, claim the asylum seekers would almost double the adult population overnight and local services could not cope
I really feel for these people.
How long can this madness go on?
Germanshepherdsmum
How do you allow an illegal immigrant to work when they have no papers and nobody knows who they really are or where they originated from? Such people should not be on our streets.
For a lawyer, you're a bit lax about terminology. An asylum seeker is not illegal.
So would it be OK to allow all those who do have papers to work? Many do, you know.

Does anybody have application details for the "let them all in" brigade? The application will go straight in the bin, but I'd be interested to read the eligibility criteria.

Sorry MaizieD the blame lies firmly with those who commit the crimes and intimidate people.
Even in the good old days there were never policemen on every corner.
Southend police are very pro-active they have several mobile knife arches along with a constant physical police presence.
Ahem! I contribute to the policing of Southend through my council tax. I can't remember the last time I even saw a police officer and the police station was sold a few years ago. The district council doesn't even have one. The district council now pays for a couple of part-time PSCOs and a bicycle. There was a meeting with the Police Commissioner for Essex, who said that we don't need any police That's absolute rubbish because there is still crime, including against people and drugs are a problem, especially county lines, but nothing is ever done about it. We still have to contribute to Southend's police.
Out of interest, I just googled 'men harassing girls in southend' and these stories came up
www.clactonandfrintongazette.co.uk/news/south_essex_news/18090118.southend-man-charged-string-offences-including-possession-knife-sexual-assault/
www.essexlive.news/news/essex-news/essex-crime-southend-man-charged-7293866
www.echo-news.co.uk/news/19459612.southend-man-accused-sexually-assaulting-three-women/
They all have seemingly British names. There was the story about the chap in the school uniform too but on the first page of google there was nothing about groups of immigrant men
