@Rosie51 I don't think anyone should be told to transition to male , ever and certainly not because they are struggling with periods and female things. I mean, we all suffer with those! I even wondered if my friend was a Lesbian really who felt it more acceptable to live as a man, although I have not ever said so. I think there is a lot that's not understood because it's not easy to talk about sensitive subjects without people getting upset, or misunderstood/misunderstanding intentions.
You will obviously find solutions? Good luck with that. And how will you know that what you see as a solution is what transpeople want? There is something of the saviour complex about that idea.
And as for people saying that it is not up to women to find solutions - that was me, as you probably know, so why not just say so* - it really isn't. It's not that I don't care, it's just that I am not obsessed with trans issues, and don't see it as my role to find solutions to problems that need not exist if people didn't insist that they could change sex. And I don't 'moan'. I express opinions.
* not naming people but making digs at them does not equate to being 'respectful' or mean that the remarks are not personal, you know.

I understand that there is some evidence that this happens when children appear to their parents to be gay. Parents are happier with having a child 'in the wrong body' than one who is homosexual, so they encourage the child down the transition route.
It would be a shame if that were the case with your friend. Younger people have it a lot easier where LGB issues are concerned, but still it seems that there are parents who can't face up to having a gay child.
VS my grandson attends a specialist school for children with complex special needs. Every day I give thanks that I believe his teachers and teaching assistants are properly grounded. More than once this assumption has been confirmed. If you were his TA I'd be very worried. Sorry if this offends but I'm looking out for my grandson who actually thinks teachers and TAs have some sort of insight!!!
So who has the major problem, that should be addressed. Hate crimes recorded in England and Wales 2021/2022 Ending March 2022. Race: 109,843, Religion: 8,730, Sexual orientation: 26,152, Disability: 14,242, Transgender: 4,355. A transgender hate crime can be recorded as using the wrong pronoun, The highest ever number of rapes was recorded by police in the year ending March 2022: 70,330 (and research shows 5 in 6 women who are raped don’t report it) - Other sexual offences: 124,353. 98% of the perpetrator(s) were born males. Will predators takes advantages of situations or the change in laws. No it will never happen, Asked Priests, Scouts Master, Gym Teachers, Celebrities or the Police it never happens,
I'm not making digs
I didn't mention names... I don't always remember who said what but I don't need to name, it's not a dig to say I've been told something
Again, personal comments Rosie
My job is to support children's learning not to teach my opinions to anyone. We support childre to learn in the ways that work best for them and formulate their own ideas and opinions...
I've also said this several times
And I am a very good teaching assistant. Plenty of areas of my life are probably a bit messy but everyone is good at something and that's one thing I'm incredibly proud of
You cannot hurt me with that one.
Good points sillydevil.

Oh it's an absolute minefield! You'd hope that everybody would get the understanding and help they need. Unfortunately the whole sexuality and gender identity issue has got to a point where I think confusion reigns. I personally think we have to start from the (at present known) station that sex is fixed at conception and cannot be changed. That some individuals experience dysphoria is undoubtedly true, and every help must be given to them to enable them to live productive happy lives. For a tiny minority the treatment will involve surgery and lifelong dependency on artificial hormones. I'd have hoped this would be the last resort, not the first port of call. It really worries me that children are being put on this pathway to lifelong medication, when watchful waiting, alongside supportive counselling could bring them to the conclusion that homosexuality is equally valid to heterosexuality, and could result in happy, productive lifestyles.

There is a lot of math missing there I'm afraid
First you would need the percentage of population for each of those demographics.
Then you would need numbers for specific crimes
Then you could work out what percentage of each demographic had been a victim of each crime

And still not even one link to the studies you've read! Just that one Wicki link which has a ! warning at the header!!!
Personal comment? Yes certainly, you say you're a good TA, we only have your word for that. I could say I'm an accomplished neurosurgeon but I'd expect you'd want proof before accepting my word. My grandson means the world to me, his safety is paramount. The self proclaimed 'purity' of any of his TAs is of no interest at all.
So so mean
Might go cry myself to sleep
Idk why you guys do this stuff
It's a weird hobby
If I was going to lie, I'd have said I'm a biologist and googled myself some answers lol
As a TA I would definitely explain to everyones grandchildren what bullying is and why it is really not a good choice and definitely not a happy one

I doubt that very much! My grandson means so much more to me, I really wish you had an inkling what it means to have such a severely disabled member of your family at the mercy of ideologues. It truly is frightening and a source of real concern.
The fact that you use "lol" so regularly shows you don't have any comprehension of parents and grandparents concerns!!!! No wonder so many of my FB friends with neurotypical children are choosing to home educate, it's frightening what our young people are being exposed to.
The GC ideology is the more harmful one, as evidenced on yet another thread
And one again, I have no say over the curriculum, we do not teach anything about trans in KS1 and your grandson would be lucky to have me as a TA.
I"d reach him about kind hands and kind words
I would also be very careful which children you try to share your ideology with. They will hopefully have excellent educators who will teach them to make their own minds up

I laugh at things I find funny
It sounds like you are really upsetting yourself and not listening at all
I'll leave you to it

Still waiting on the links to the studies, unless that is they don't exist lol lol lol
^and your grandson would be lucky to have me as a TA.
I"d reach him about kind hands and kind words^ My grandson is a lovely boy, how dare you imply he'd need you to teach him anything!! He has amazing parents, you are just an insulting egomaniac!! He may be severely disabled but he doesn't have his head up his arse!
That didn't format properly.

We teach all children about kind hands and kind words Rosie
You are the one who needs those lessons
Would you please stop attacking, I've told you several times we aren't teaching anyone about trans people in KS1
And I am a very good TA, I specialise in SEN and emotional support
You can rest assured that any child who is questioning their gender gets taught exactly nothing. My job is to listen and refer on concerns
I've told you all this before
My job and my ability to do it well is Not a topic for debate on gransnet and you have no right to make it one.
I won't be reporting but a lot of guidelines are being broken

That makes sense, except that there is no way of knowing how many transpeople there are, as some change their minds regularly and in any case there is no register (probably rightly).
As I keep banging on about, there are so few studies because collecting data is so difficult. I can understand transpeople not wanting to be on some sort of list, but it’s a problem for sociologists and statisticians. And criminologists and financial analysts and researchers of all kinds, particularly those who want to compare male and female experiences in order to equalise them.
We hear about how transpeople are the most marginalised group in society but what does that mean? How is marginalisation defined, and how is the number of transpeople affected by it measures, either in its own right or by comparison with other groups?
And despite all this, the gender critical are asked to find solutions to problems, and to quote statistics to ‘prove’ our point of view.
Its utterly inaccurate to say gender critical people havent found solutions, in many schools the materials from transgender trend are used, they were set up to challenge the narrative of young peoples bodies being wrong. There have been court cases to ensure that discussion took place on womens rights, the continuous support of the detransitioners, the support of women in prison and in refuges, the endless campaigning about sport by some brave athletes.

Ooh! As My Nan used to say, Self praise is no recommendation!

And that is exactly what I’d say when I read your posts.
Fortunately,
