Casdon I'm not disputing that he identifies as Welsh - just being a pedant after seeing (from wiki admittedly) that he's not Welsh-born. I'm more concerned that his politics seem pretty ghastly.
ICE’s rule of terror continues in USA
Jacob Rees-Mogg, has resigned as business secretary
Brandon Lewis has stepped down as justice secretary
Others who have left their roles:
Work and Pensions Secretary Chloe Smith,
Environment Secretary Ranil Jayawardena,
Welsh Secretary Robert Buckland
Tory Party chairman Jake Berry

So Albanian gangsters are welcome here? How weird. Like Maudi I welcome Sue Bravarman. Some immigrants wait months in camps and jump through endless hoops to be admitted legally into this country. How unfair it is that people can jump the queue by crossing the channel, escorted by the French and the UK, in order to get here while others wait years. Hope she can do something to stem the flow.
Wanting fair, timely and humane immigration policies and processes really isn't the same thing as saying gangsters are welcome here.
I think overall the new Cabinet is quite a good one. They just have to get on with it now.
I suspect no Cabinet is ever stuffed with perfect for the job Ministers, of any Party which finds itself in power.
This is certainly an improvement though, in my view. I feel that sensible people are in charge, for the first time in quite a while.

David Davies has been confirmed as the new secretary of state for Wales
Oh! Interesting.
He'll be happy!
He is Welsh born and bred, unlike some in the past. Please tell wiki that it's made a mistake because it claims he was born in London.
David T C Davies - so he was!
Well I never. I thought he was a Newport boy.
Ah, his father is Welsh!!
Honestly, read his Wiki entry. I'm surprised they haven't made a film of his early life.
My wiki says he was born in York ???
He's a man of mystery, isn't he?

I’ve met him a few times through work, he is not a popular figure. I can’t see him forging a warm bond with Mark Drakeford, who I’m sure has him marked down as a total waste of space - he’s what my mum would call all mouth and no trousers. He is Welsh, though he may have been born in London.

I also despair at Braverman being re-appointed, she's despised by many for her views and I think he's made a big mistake. And as for Raab being back in the Cabinet, another mistake- Raab proved his worth as a Minster when he wouldn't return from holiday when people in Afghanistan were fleeing for their lives.
Casdon, thank you for you very kind post.l certainly don't think everyone on Gransnet are racists . There are truly some lovely people on here, who think as l do.
I also don't expect everyone to agree with my views but l do think that everyone should be treated with respect and empathy. This is something that this government doesn't seem to care about at all. They have lost touch with reality.

I don't vote Conservative but I thought he was the best of a bad bunch, but by appointing Braverman, he has made a huge mistake. Why is it that people whose families were immigrants themselves have no empathy for anyone else trying to come to this country.
Nearly 40 years ago l convinced my husband to return here from the USA because l felt this would be a better country to raise our son. That we were welcoming to all. My husband is not white.... unfortunately l have been proved wrong.
I really despair for the situation we all find ourselves in, for our children and grandchildren.
Please don’t think we all agree with what’s happening Mayal, many of us vehemently disagree with the government’s handing of the refugee and asylum seeker situation. There are also some truly shocking racist attitudes displayed on Gransnet, and I want to apologise on behalf of the rest of us for those who display them, I pity them for their closed hearts and minds.

David Davies has been confirmed as the new secretary of state for Wales.
Alister Jack who remains secretary of state for Scotland.
Chris Heaton-Harris has been re-appointed as secretary of state for Northern Ireland.
Michelle Donelan keeps her job as secretary of state for culture, media and sport.
Kemi Badenoch, who rose to prominence during this summer's leadership contest, has been re-appointed as international trade secretary.
Michael Gove has just been confirmed as the levelling up secretary.

And who knew Secretary of State for Levelling Up was a thing? What next, Minister of Magic? Mind you, Dolores Umbridge would probably feel right at home in that cabinet.
Gove had that job under Johnson; who sacked him in the summer.
For all I heartily dislike Gove for his stint at Education and his role in Brexit, I think he is quite a competent Minister. Though how much 'levelling up' will go on, in the light of cuts to spending, is anybody's guess.

Well he’s lost any positive vibes I had by bringing bravaman back
Very very bad move
Has anyone got a timeline of which MP’s have been in which ministerial posts over the past few months? It’s like a game of musical chairs.
Maudi
Well I hold my hands up I didn't like Sunak and his back stabbing of Boris but I'm changing my mind especially with Suella Braverman being appointed Home Secretary, yes could be a dream team. If he sorts the economy out and stops the dinghies a major issue with many including me I think at the next General Election the Conservatives could win again.
Is it rosy in Cloud Cuckoo Land?
It’s a shame for him, he had a small chance of a new start which he’s now blown. I do think he’s an intelligent man himself, but he’s naive, appointing donkeys isn’t the way to win over the country.
