If you were near the higher rate £50,270 you will pay 40% on the amount over this. I am assuming that the 2023/24 tax bands will stay the same and that is probaly a vain hope as this increase has to be funded somehow.

I wasn’t surprised. She had to pull something out of the bag today, I don’t think there was ever any intention to get rid of the triple lock, the refusal to confirm it would remain was just a cynical move to help her at PMQ.

This sounded to me like a trap they had laid in advance - "one of the questions will be triple-lock, can we wrong-foot them?". But Blackford wasn't as nimble as I'd normally expect.

Ken Clarke has just said that he is frightened to go to the toilet in case the triple lock is changed again.

Perhaps it was a spur of the moment decision without consultation. There are a lot of Tory supporters (or were) who are over pension age!

Oh! Still the comment still stands whoever he is I think.

It simply shows that the chaos is still there.

No it shows that people take for gospel what they read/see on Twitter without checking.

I fell foul to a parody account recently, I asked for my post referencing it to be deleted to save confusion.

I never post on Twitter so not an issue

Perhaps, as an afterthought, she said that she and the Chancellor had agreed on the triple lock.

This is how untruths spread on the internet.

Like I said I fell foul and posted a tweet from what I thought was a genuine account on GN recently, as soon as it was pointed out to me that it was a parody account I asked GN to delete my post so as not to cause any confusion or spread an untruth.

I think she was told to say that she supported keeping the Triple Lock - to prevent pensioner panic. To be honest, she can say anything she wants right now, as there seems little chance of her being in power next April.

I'm not holding my breath for a State pension rise in line with inflation next year.

It is indeed a parody account, but I have the same feeling at the moment.

I am not hot under the collar WW this parody account is harmless, unfortunately some aren’t and cause distress and the repetition of untruths.
