I'm a big fan of Starmer but barristers have been known to twist facts and be extremely devious in defence of defendants as required. They have to be be pretty silver tongued at times.
My evidence? I've seen them at work!

Sir Keir Starmer
(130 Posts)Listening to so many comments, especially voting Tories, it is so heartening to hear these folk saying how much they like Starmer as a man, and as life long Tory voters will vote for him in the next election.
His honesty and integrity is winning through and I am so pleased. At long last the U.K. stands a chance of reversing the corruption, incompetence and dreadful world wide reputation.
They are obliged not to mislead the court.

Somewhat the same as estate agents used to be?
Barristers do a vital job of course, as do estate agents, but both have an unfortunate reputation.
It does mean that Keir Starmer is intelligent and can reason well, both qualities will stand him in good stead as PM.I also like the fact that he is a happily married man with a family, I know it should not matter, but to me it does.

You mean in the way that Johnson made Suella Braverman Attorney General so she could find way for him to break the law ( or work around it).
Suella of the ERG who refuses to say who the ERG members are and who is prepared to do anything for her 'secret' Club? Now, I don't trust her at all, for sure. Nought ot do with her being a barrister, but bent as a Yuri Geller's spoon!
I know this thread is about KS.
But would you really trust this barrister?

Common sense would tell her that her deliberately gobby and abrasive approach isn’t going to win over traditional Conservative voters. I’m sure Starmer is well aware of that.
Didn’t Starmer try to demote Rayner (pre Covid)? Called her into his office and then she walked out with a bigger job! I’m sure I remember that correctly? Not inspirational in a leader.
Starmer is earnest. (Truss is too). Both are a bit boring to listen to.
Starmer happily supported Corbyn for five years. Hmm. I think he comes from the same stable as Ed Miliband.
Do I think as a person he is a decent chap? Yes, undoubtedly.
Is that enough to be voted in as the next PM? I’m not sure. I’m going across the road to the bookies tomorrow to put a bet on the Conservatives winning the next general election. Everyone seems to be cheering for Labour in this media frenzy.
I think I’ll get very good odds.
Worth a punt!
Absolutely, I think I’ll join you.
I just hate gambling. And .the Cons are now gambling the whole country- and the loss will be ours, not theirs. The word I am thinking about begins with a big B and ends with ds.
Bellends?

Bellends?
Not what I had in mind, but that will do nicely too ;)
Have you seen the labour files documentaries by Aljazeera?
Here is a conversation about them how media here ignored them other countries shown interest.
Lots of innocent labour members expelled for no reason including Jews. The investigations including the panorama programme.

By the way Peter Oborn says as a conservative he will want Starmer as PM as the conservative government is so awful
The Labour Files’ exposes a toxic right-wing culture poisoning our party.
While the Tories were imploding last week, Keir Starmer was welcoming applause at an ostensibly unified Labour conference. But below the surface, a more divisive and concerning story was unfolding through a series of shocking documentaries, aired on the Al Jazeera news channel and YouTube.
The Labour Files, based on what producers say is “the biggest leak of confidential documents in British political history,” detailed harrowing bullying of party members by Labour’s bureaucracy and the rigging of democratic processes. Most chillingly, the series exposed a current of anti-Black racism and Islamophobia in the party under Starmer, at times apparently encouraged by its most senior officials.

I am not really interested in digging up the past- and KS is one more reason to put this behind us.
BUT, again, it is the First Past the Post system that forces huge groups with very different values and intentions together. The Labour Party goes from just left of Centre to the far extremes of the Left. In countries with proportional representations- this does not happen. In France, for instance, both right and left have very distinct factions, and Socialists are totally separate from Communists. Same on the right, and even centre.

There are alternative views to all those "facts".
It is quite worrying that the only thing that seems to matter now is electability and that in order to achieve that any amount of unacceptable behaviour has to be tolerated. And the press just keep quiet about it. You might almost imagine that, having realised that the present Conservative party is completely screwed, some right wing media barons and tycoons are planning to provide a party that will replace it. Something which won't change too much, will keep people quiet and hold the fort for a few years until the Tories have regrouped and are ready to take over again. But that would be pure speculation wouldn't it?
Echo chamber.
He lacks charisma but compared to the robotic Truss he's a star. Labour may have flaws but they couldn't do worse than the Tories.

I wonder why, hey?!?
The truth has to be repeated, again and again.
Lacks charisma, Corbyn and Milliband oozed with charisma?
He's been known as wooden Borning amongst other less flattering things ????
Grany* it would take less of your time if you said

Nope, it’s because some people can’t accept that it hasn’t panned out the way they want it to. It was never going to.

People that were there said there were thousands including Stella Assange. There had to number in the thousands to cover all the route arms linked
