Symbolism carries a lot of weight in some cases, it often represents a culture, religion that is not shared by all. I'm sure many would object to crosses all over the place, bearing in mind we live in not only a multi religious but a largely secular society.

Like the word “gay”? Or the appropriation of the Oak tree by the Tories or the rose by Labour.

How about the Daffodil by Wales, or the thistle by Scotland?

Personally, I would just like to go about daily life without continually having rainbow flags, and businesses attesting their support for any ideology by means of recorded messages on a loop. Would it be deemed acceptable if, for example, they were proselytising on behalf of a religion, because that's what it amounts to. I should know being brought up a catholic, continually reinforcing a message very overtly is tantamount to subliminal mind control.

This is something we really should be very concerned about. It’s frightening where this could go and we should resist and push back against it before it goes any further.

Reported in yesterday's Times, it seems the Vicar, who fell foul of The Yorkshire Building Society, merely responded on line when he was invited to give a general feedback, and in that feedback he gave a polite rebuttal of trans ideology that they were actively promoting on their website. In their letter to him he was told that "they had a zero tolerance approach to discrimination and that their relationship had irrevocably broken down" He told the Times "I wasn't aware that our relationship had a problem, they are a financial house, they are not there to do social engineering, I think they should concentrate their efforts on managing money" So there you have it! If invited to comment on a company's website, make sure you keep those thoughts to yourself, as free speech is no longer a given, having sleepwalked into a parallel universe sometime in the not so distant past, now such criticisms, observations even, fall outside the very strict parameters of what is acceptable these days.

I think he should be applauded for bringing the fact into the open that he …. And his family ….. have had their bank accounts closed because it has now encouraged others to come forward and say the same. Maybe they were too embarrassed to come forward before but I think we will hear a lot more in the near future about others who have been similarly de-banked.

It happened MORE than once.

According to DM the body ( outsourced) who deal with this are unaccountable, and paid by quota.
He maintains once they've debunked you, it's highly likely to happen again.

Dislike is probably the wrong word, I don't agree with him on some things, and as I hate the equating dislike with disagreeing I should slap my hands. Free speech union has been very helpful to some women who have faced threats from their employers.

As I said before, it’s not about Farage, it’s about the behaviour of the banks, who were not exactly ethical when they overpaid their own bonuses and eventually had to be rescued by the government with eye watering amounts. It’s about the banks for goodness sake. It’s worrying!

You seem to be ignoring the fact that banks are under no legal obligation to take on a new account or to continue an existing one.

You can moan and worry about it all you like, but it's a fact of life.

I suspect that the case of the Yorkshire vicar is highly unusual. It's being used to manipulate people's attitudes.

Just to clarify, this isn’t something new. A bank account could always be closed because of inactivity, suspicious activity, a bank levy, repeated violations of the account's rules, criminal behaviour , or the accountholder's unresponsiveness to the bank's attempts at contact.
I’m sure we will find out in time if Farage is guilty of any of those misdemeanours because it will be investigated by the media. I’d be very wary of coming down on either side of this until there is more information.
