I purchased a house in the 80s which was painted entirely in mushroom, apart from the spare bedroom and bathroom. And it had parquet floors. Everything was brown (not for long!).

Read the thread 25Avalon. The EU did not make us take the Crown mark off. The failure of the UK to repeal it's own 1988 legislation which did not allow for two marks did that.

Quite interesting when you look into this and beware of newspaper sensationalisation. From what I can gather the EU legislation was that we had to have CE stamped on the glasses to show the legal measurement. The crown was permitted to remain as decoration only and was not allowed to be confused with the CE mark. Our Civil servants interpreted this as CE only and Tony Blair refused to listen to the major breweries who pleaded for the crown to remain.Now the CE mark is not necessary the crown can come back to its full glory.

I also read glasses were being imported cheaply from Chechoslovakia where they were automatically stamped CE with no crown.

The glasses could be made cheaply in China, now the UK is out of the EU, like the LED light bulbs.

You could have a recessed area with a half circle top, such that the back of the recess is painted in a second colour and the side walls and curved ceiling of the recess are in a third colour, thereby reducing the amount of paint of the first colour but needing paint of two other colours as well.

Possibly new clothes too as you will have ruined them slipping off the ladder with a tin of paint (unless as I recall GagaJo did, you decide to leave the clothes off). And will that slip leave you in need of private medical treatment?

But paint only comes in litre quantities so you'd probably still need 2 litres. But you would need a ladder now and more patience.

Paint is sold in litres. One litre of paint costs 62p

It also comes in tester pots which are relatively expensive so I would have to factor in about 6 tester pots too @ £1.50 (30 shillings per pot
