She has tested positive with mild symptoms, let’s hope it stays that way. I truly hope she comes through it.
Those of you with faith maybe say a little prayer ??

In its own way, resenting that rich people have a lot of money is also making money the be-all and end-all. It is often said that money can't buy happiness, that the love and respect of family and friends is real riches. Should we not be pitying those who have plenty of the things that money can buy, but none of the things that it can't?
That some people. If you nationalised all the money that billionaires have in the bank and shared it out among those with precisely nothing, how much would they get each? It would probably be surprisingly little, and could bespent in a surprisingly short time - and then they would be back to zero again. Some of the would turn their share into a way to continue to make more, but they would be the ones who could make the most of anything.
Poverty comes about because the skills and abilities that some people have are not ones that are command a high wage, and that is because we don't value them enough. We need to value ALL occupations and services, even - particularly - the ones we don't fancy doing ourselves, and we need to see the potential abilities of everyone, before they get into the rut of low abilities followed by low self-esteem, followed by giving up on education or training, followed by dead-end low-paid jobs or none at all, followed by not getting the jobs they try for.
No. That theory falls down because the money doesn't just disappear once it's spent. It circulates and governments can control how it circulates because most of it, at some stage, returns to the Treasury as tax and is then redistributed by means such as taxing some people more and/or direct benefits.
The other side of poverty is because essential services such as a roof over our heads, food, heating, etc. simply cost more than a person with average income earns.
Give a man a fish, and he can feed his family for a day.
Teach him how to fish, and he can feed himself for a lifetime.
Teach him how to vote for people who will make sure there are always fish in the sea and the rivers, and will make wise treaties with other nations who need to fish to eat too, and his children and grandchildren will eat as well.

If you want to make money the be all and end all of life than I suppose you think differently from me, GG13.
I just happen to think that it should be regarded as a public good and be put to use to benefit everyone.
I'm not a Christian but I can't help feeling that we weren't put on this earth to suck all that we can out of it, to monopolise its resources, and hard luck to those who can't.Regarding your last paragraph, nowhere in any of my posts have I advocated for that.
Are you against entrepreneurs and philanthropists, these folks are usually what you appear to class as mega rich ?
And there are plenty of mega-rich people who aren't entrepreneurs or philanthropists. Don't you think even poor people would like the warm glow from being able to give to charity?

Platitudes don't alter basic economics.

And the Queen’s own 2 properties are open to the public
Yes and it costs a pretty penny to get into them.
The RF is a very lucrative business on top of the millions we donate.
I hope the Queen makes a good recovery and admire her enormously but would like to see radical changes in the future.
People who are able to choose their MPS wisely, and pick ones who will choose their leaders well, can change basic economics.
Yes Hollysteers and not just the RF. Crazy wages for footballers-why not reduce them and charge less for entry so more people could afford to go to matches. Crazy pay for TV personalities. Why not pay them less and lower the licence fee.

^We are here to serve each other and care for each other, not to "store up riches^ "
You do your thing and I'll do mine, nadateturbe!
You may not agree with my belief but you can't possibly think that storing money that you will never use is OK whilst your fellow human being is in need.
Very good posts MaisieD

This thread is about a woman who has Covid yet some choose to speak of her wealth not her health therefore money is of more importance to some than health
It was me who bought up money, and I can assure you, Annie, hand on heart than that is totally and utterly untrue.
It could not be further than the truth.
In fact, your comment has quite upset me.
Trouble with forums, Fanny, is you can't see body language or smiles- so you sometimes don't know whether people are being serious or not. With that post , I am really not sure. No one would be that judgemental. Would they?
Thank you nanna8
It’s pretty clear that everyone would wish the queen to have a full recovery.
Posters questioning the validity of a RF or discussing wealth distribution are doing just that, they can still wish the queen well.
Some interesting posts on he subject.
I failed to see any connect between a woman who has Covid, with her wealth, and her mother was an alcoholic .
Start threads on these matters,
I thought someone upthread pointed out that no poster can tell us what to discuss on threads.
Annie sorry but did you even read what I said ?
What is the point of everyone just coming on this thread and saying they wish HM well over and over? It’s been said .
If threads don’t develop or waver from the original title then they will become very monotonous surely?
You are telling me what can be discussed Lucca
It was me who said about threads developing.
I can see that this one has definitely developed…
I guess that I’ll be waiting some time for an apology of any kind Annie; which is a shame because I am always fair and polite to you
Of course there's a link between Covid and wealth. Google the two words together Anniebach.
As for my statement that it's wrong to store (hoard) money that will never be used while fellow human beings are in need. Perhaps you can tell me if you agree. If not, why.
Money is not more important than anyone's health. It can only bring so much happiness.
I am not. I am saying we can discuss whatever
My post to Annie.
nadaturbe I haven’t seen any posters saying that money is more important than anyones health
I just do not get the obsession with rich people what is wrong with having a large amount of savings? Are people actually suggesting that the U.K. (or even the world) should have a cap on how much money an individual should be allowed to have?
Surely your worries should be concentrated on how to lift people out of poverty, train them and give them the skills to earn more and get a better life. This starts with education, bring back vocational courses, there is a shortage of electricians, plumbers, carpenters etc.
