trisher, really 'a sort of automaton -like Starmer.'
this is truly below your standards, sadly.
We have seen what 'charisma' achieves, both sides of the pond. We had had enough of it and its consequences for many many lifestimes to come.

Labour party conference, is no-one else interested?
(505 Posts)tbh I expected a few posts about what's been happening other than the ones about Angela Rayner's language but none have appeared. So what do you think of the show so far? Andy McDonald's resignation, does this signal open warfare from the left? Internal party reforms despite Momentum's objection, does this signal the end of the left's influence? Starmer's declaration that winning the next election is more important than focusing on party unity. Is this a sign that the Labour party is moving on from the Corbyn era and Brexit? Some suggestion that the left wing might start a new party? So where do you think the party is heading?
Gotta love how his fans describe Starmer as ‘forensic’.
Most people I know say theyzone out when he talks because my goodness he is boring isn’t he?
?
I know you dislike Starmer trisher, but in all honesty he has more charisma than our leader Mark Drakeford - and he’s highly rated here in Wales.

Three labour MPs plan to defect to the conservatives?
Doesn’t it say everything about the Parliamentary Labour Party that Keir Starmer leads, that when its members plan to defect, they decide to go to the Tories?
No self-respecting Labour Party member would ever consider joining the Conservatives. Not if they ever had true Labour values – because Conservative values are poison to traditional Labour beliefs.
These are people who are said to be despairing at Starmer’s failure to close the Conservatives’ lead in the opinion polls – despite the fact that his, and their own, attacks on Labour’s traditional, socialist, membership are directly responsible for this failure.
Is this still expected. I suppose looking at what the bookies are saying as they tend to know about these thing.
It disappeared of the front pages as quickly as it went on. Interesting.

Iam64 I don't know if you've noticed but we have a Tory government and will have until May 2024. What will be left by then is debatable. Will Starmer regain the lost Labour votes? I very much doubt so. He's a Westminster man with little charisma and he's remembered as a Remainer.
The present Tory government has effectively nationalised rail services on the quiet. But it is still regarded as left wing by some. Basically the differnce is that when the companies make profits they go into private pockets, but the losses are the responsibility of the tax payer. Honestly you couldn't make it up! www.theguardian.com/business/2020/jul/31/ons-says-uk-rail-has-effectively-been-renationalised-during-pandemic
Rather unnecessary and unpleasant to remind me we have a Tory govt with an 80 seat majority, likely to remain so for 3 more years. My point remains. Do left leaning activists continue the campaign against Starmer surely in full knowledge that the LP won’t win an election when so divided.
Do you want continued Tory government?
varian you might think that, but actually can you imagine the reaction in the red wall? Do you really think they will turn round when everything is chaos and say Starmer was right.
But Casdon some degree of charisma is necessary or you get a sort of automaton -like Starmer.
Lisa Nandy was a remainer too?
Charisma is overrated. I don’t see it myself, but Boris has got where he is based on alleged charisma, whereas we have managed without charisma in the Welsh Government leader very well indeed, I wish the rest of the UK would take note.
Yes Starmer was a Remainer. That is a badge of pride. He did not believe the leavers lies. Surely now we can all see that he was right?
As Brexit turns into a massive disaster- Starmer being remembered as a 'Remainer' who is prepared to do everything possible to reach out to our EU partners and redress this catastrophy- may well turn out to be a great advantage!

Anyone who constantly references Corbyn he isn't the leader any longer. It seems that opposing him remains some people's obsession.
We wouldn’t have to oppose him if he did what other failed party leaders do which is to keep a low profile fir a few years. Which is the honourable thing to do. imo
This.
Lisa Nandy is impressive and may be a future leader. Currently the leader is Starmer. Any left leaning voter, any LP member who doesn’t see voting and supporting the party under his leadership would be advised to look at their own veiled systems and values.
The LP with him as pm has to serve us better than Johnson or whoever replaces him. I suspect some would rather see Tory government in the deluded belief we’d defend into chaos and the revolution would result in a pre socialist govt
I like her too MayBee70, her PR skills are very good I think, and she says what she thinks. I do believe what she said though when she was adamant she wasn’t going to stand again as leader. If the opportunity arises in a few years, maybe.
I like Lisa Nandy. However I don’t think she’d be anywhere near as good as Starmer at forensically taking Johnson apart at PMQT.
I referenced him purely in relation to Lisa Nandy who was the person we were discussing trisher, I’ve moved on long ago. I’m surprised that you would choose somebody who is more centre left, but good for you if you’ve moved on.

Interesting choice for you trisher, I presume you’ve forgiven her for co-chairing Owen Smith’s leadership challenge against Jeremy Corbyn? She has ruled herself out of standing for leadership again though, very recently too, so maybe not going to happen in the foreseeable future, even if Starmer does go.
Also didn’t support the people’s vote campaign as she said her constituents had voted for brexit and the decision couldn’t be reversed.

Who do you mean?
I've moved on Casdon it's a pity others can't.

I'd go with Lisa Nandy just now. Great speech at conference. One which sets out a vision labour.org.uk/press/conference-speech-lisa-nandy-mp-labours-shadow-secretary-of-state-for-foreign-and-commonwealth-affairs/
The hard left wing did the same to Kinnock after he followed Michael Foot as leader.

Name somebody you think is a front runner trisher?
Come on. Be fair. She’s narrowed it down to 200.
Name somebody you think is a front runner trisher?
Maybee70 it wasn't right wing party members it was employees. Nothing democratic about any of it. They controlled the party they were supposed to be working for.
