Memo to Anniwbach; Corbyn is not the current leader of the Tory party, you referring to him is as relevant as me having a rant about Thatcher's Britain. Time to learn, time to move on.
Masked protesters block Port of Dover
Well I'm from a working class background but please Angela Rayner having a go at Raab did herself and Labour no favours.

He attended the memorial service for Bobby Sands who died in 1981, but chose to invite them to Westminster in 1984 only
2 weeks after the Brighton bombing.
The Good Friday Agreement 1998
Having met my MP I know meetings are arranged well in advance-so before the bombing.
So it took 14 years and many more people dying. If only more people had been willing to talk it might have happened earlier.
Meetings can be cancelled
I agree about talking Trisher. Jawing is always better than war-ing because it ends up that way anyway. Jeremy
Corbyn has always preferred talking which seems to have cost him politically.

Come on Annie that's unworthy of you. Gill misspoke, we all know what she meant, and in this case it was you who brought Corbyn into the discussion.

Urmstongran
Neither would I ever use the word ‘scum’ to describe anybody. But then again I hate the word ‘soulmate’ just as much in other settings.
?Are you talking to yourself Urmstongran?
Perhaps PippaZ! No matter.
Petra if Corbyn hasn’t been mentioned in this thread then I
apologise, but curious why Harold Wilson, Tony Blair, Gordon
Brown can be brought into a discussion but not Corbyn.

I think they were brought in when discussing calibre of Prime Ministers and their backgrounds.
I don't think that Corbyn has ever been a PM.

Annie, from what I have seen you bring him in any thread, any post whenever you are on GN. You are perfectly entitled to do so but anyone in their right senses would be equally entitled to ignore you and what seems to have become an obsessive compulsion to bring him into the discussion.
I will now go back to ignoring the same old, same old arguements.

A conservative mp said ‘a bomb should be delivered to the
office of the Labour Party chairman.
Two weeks after the Brighton bombing Corbyn invited IRA members to tea in Westminster, forget politics, people were grieving , surely respect was due even if the victims were tories.
Oh for goodness sake's Annie! We are talking about Rayner, and the here and now, please.
Much more recent though
still he meant no offence.
MaizieD
I really don't think that most of the objectors to Rayner's description would ever vote labour so their views can be discounted, can't they.
Well I have to disagree with this and it does make me wonder if the Labour Party prefers to stay in opposition. I've voted Labour more often than I've ever voted Lib or Con combined and tbh I don't want anyone representing this country who doesn't appreciate that there's a difference between the language that you use with your mates and the language you use when you will be reported in the media. I find BJ pretty objectionable but in no way should his behaviour be used to excuse the bad behaviour of AR or anyone else. I notice Starmer and others have distanced themselves from her comments. She would have gained a little more respect from me if she had apologised but her refusal to is also quite concerning. If Labour gets into government and she gets a cabinet post she'd have to mix with quite a few people she won't like or respect and she needs to demonstrate that she can control herself. She's potentially a loose cannon. To misquote MaizieD she needs to appeal to people who need a little persuasion to vote Labour, the ones who won't bother about what she says and how she says it, will vote Labour anyway.
Yes, Foxie, well said.
She is out of her depth, and doesn't have the gut instinct to know when to withdraw.
A simple apology, along the lines of: 'I felt so passionately I regrettably got carried away and really didn't mean to offend anyone' would deceive no-one but equally would deflect further criticism.
Instead she has decided to tough it out and pretend that what she calls street speech is acceptable in formal situations.
It is not, and she has exposed her weakness.

Sorry! Typo, which I thought was rather obvious
. I mean LABOUR party.

That’s what this Labour Party need to do, but they won’t, because they hate Britain and it’s people, for rejecting its wokery and its beloved EU.
The Labour Party hate Britain? That’s a fact is it ?Hate Britain? What a thoroughly nasty post. They may not be patriotic in the way of putting out bigger flags than the next guy and fighting demonstrators saying things they don't want to hear.
Do you even know what "woke" means? It is a word certainly used more by the right as an insult than by the left who usually spell out its meaning "alert to injustice in society, especially racism" for the idiots who only see anger and insult as patriotism.
Don't forget that Labour is trying to look after the workers in this country. They are the very people who would give up their life in real and tangible patriotism should the need arise.
Saying "The Labour Party hate Britain? That’s a fact is it?" is not only ignorant of what others truly think but insulting. It is not "a fact" it's a very nasty, insulting belief.
I didn’t say the Labour Party hate Britain! I was quoting,
I think this comment will haunt her and the Labour Party for the next few years.
The press won't let her forget it and the picture of her outside having a "fag" won't go away either.
I refer you back to my post earlier today, foxie. There are plenty of people stacking up who will have no cause to like the tories. Who might well have the same opinion of our government as does Rayner.
The 'tories are vermin' pronouncement of Nye Bevan's didn't seriousley harm the Labour party. I doubt if people are less robust in their thinking these days.
If some of the posters on here had a tenth of her gumption we might have a democratic government.
She sounded honest to me. Most of you tearing into her wouldn't vote Labour anyway. You don't mind the dishonest politician as long as they enunciate in an upperclass way. Then you find that those that are (JRM comes to mind) are treating you like trash but you just don't see it, poor saps
I just really wish she hadn't used the language she did and its nothing to do with class, its to do with showing a degree of respect. I like her, I am just disappointed with the language she used.
Your last comment was just risible PippaZ! ‘Poor saps’ indeed.
I have voted Labour in the past. Loved John Smith. May he RIP.
I lent my vote this time to Boris because he was the only leader who promised to Get Brexit Done.
✅
I was sick of the Remainers trying to thwart the referendum result. Fed up of our stymied Parliament with its ‘indicative votes’ that got us bluddy nowhere. (PR anyone instead of FPTP? This is the reality!).
But Ms. Rayner and her ‘gumption’. It’s laughable really if it doesn’t translate to votes at the next ballot box. The Conservatives must be rubbing their hands with glee. She’s the new Diane Abbott. Marmite.
But is that as bad as what the government gets up to lavenderzen? Why a long thread on it when she hasn't broken any laws but this government has? It may not be great but, as I said before, it's honest.
An exclusive investigation into the profile of elite Conservative donors by The Citizens, published in full with the Byline Times on 9th September, revealed that a quarter of those who have given at least £100,000 in a single donation have been recognised with an honour, title, or place in the House of Lords. Indeed, when it comes to the top donors – those donating more than £1.5 million to the party – our investigation showed that 55% had been honoured with titles or awards such as OBEs and MBEs.
But I'm sure they did it incredibly politely. Don't you think things have got just a bit out of perspective?
Mark Drakeford today was able to say what amounted to the same thing but in a much more controlled and professional way. I think this is what we should be aiming for.

So you now want Stepford Politicians Casdon. She did what she did. There is no going back from it and I get the impression it's exactly what she believes. How often can you say that.
My Mum, who is obviously older than me said today how proud she was of Angela for not apologising until Boris does for all the horrible things he has said and done. It made me laugh
