Anniebach Meghan had taken a great interest in women's rights well before she met Harry and had spoken out on those issues for years.

I wonder if she thought she may have gained a higher profile platform after she married him to enable her to speak out on issues about which she felt passionately, but was constrained by the courtiers about what the RF can in fact do and speak about.

maddyone Sun 13-Jun-21 09:52:52

High profile people taking an interest in education can only be a good thing in my opinion. Especially in Early Years education.

I would always refer to The Duchess of Cambridge as Cartherine. My own daughter’s name is Catherine and apart from a couple of private, pet names I have for her, I always call her Catherine. My son in law actually told his mother in front of me that her name is Catherine, because he knows that’s what we call her. She had used the diminutive Cat, something some of her friends call her, but we never do.

Any interest in education, from anyone, but particularly from a royal, is helpful and beneficial.

Of course ! Agree.. (anyone ?!)

I don't care what Catherine (I do think it is nicer than Kate) did at school or university. Like many many mothers she takes an interest in education. I left school at 15 with no qualifications but volunteered in schools for many years and as teachers I worked with would tell you I had great success working 1 to 1 with children who were struggling to learn to read.

Sometimes the people who do things have a useful perspective that the people who study things can benefit from, the most self confident of them will admit that.

“ you can
dismiss the Oprah interview as a mistake ? . ”

Error of judgment/ faux pas/ blunder/gaffe/miscalculation …..

Lucca Sun 13-Jun-21 08:05:41

Whatever people think of “Suits”. It was highly successful and Meghan Markle had an important role in it.
I presume we would dismiss every single actor who played a female role in a long running series as a “girlie” would we ?

Lucca Sun 13-Jun-21 08:02:09

Annie that’s fine, whatever you say.

Alegrias1 Sun 13-Jun-21 08:01:09

A girlie.

I think I'll stay off GN today. Might get myself banned otherwise.

Anniebach Sun 13-Jun-21 07:52:49

Lucca Haz and Meg made some mistakes recently ? you can
dismiss the Oprah interview as a mistake ? .

trisher. you dismissed Kate as a 50’s housewife . Have mocked her parents.

Yes Meg was in the entertainment industry, a girlie in a tv show, married a producer, dumped him , went to Canada and
Got a part in a tv soap, moved in with a celebrity chef, dumped
him when she met Haz.

I always think that the use of shortened names and nicknames such as the RF's come about because of the more tabloidy newspapers.

They always shorten names because they fit in headlines better.
Hence MrsT etc. Catherine Zeta Jones is always referred to as Zeta.
Wills and Kate is much more headline friendly than William and Catherine. It's also more 'chummy'.

There are loads more examples which I can't think of at the moment!

Calendargirl Sun 13-Jun-21 07:23:56

‘Philip’ (Duke of Edinburgh) is often misspelt on here, with two l’s.

Yes, The Duchess of Cambridge is always being referred to as ‘Kate Middleton’, but you never hear William address her as anything but Catherine.

I suppose Sarah, Duchess of York, will always be Fergie though.

FannyCornforth Sun 13-Jun-21 06:19:39

Rosie you misspelt Lilibet smile

Lucca Sun 13-Jun-21 01:51:48

Really ? The duchess of Cambridge is regularly referred to as Kate, on here and in the press. Don’t be ridiculous.

Rosie51 Sun 13-Jun-21 00:54:30

Can people, and an especial wave to Alegrias1 ( who I understood to be particular about correct names), trisher and Lucca please refer to the Duchess of Cambridge as Catherine as is her given name. None of you misspell or misname Meghan. And trisher your bias is very evident..... (not only your blatant snobbery towards Catherine's parents) will you equally condemn Meghan and Harry when Archie and Lillibet go to private USA educational facilities, rather than public education? Somehow, I think not.

lemsip Sun 13-Jun-21 00:29:02

from the oprah 'show' meghan showed her true nature and it wasn't very nice! that's the bottom line.

Lucca Sat 12-Jun-21 23:39:38

Indeed but it will be looked down upon because it’s American but also just because it’s Meghan

Why do there have to be such extremes ? Kate ..marvellous/Meghan..terrible.
Ok so Hand M have done some odd things recently, made some mistakes etc but some of the comments have nothing to do with that

trisher Sat 12-Jun-21 22:55:40

The D of Cambridge may be lovely, intelligent, clever and interested in education. Not enough of course to send her own children to a state school which would certainly have been one way of getting more money to improve children's education.

Meghan Markle has a theatre degree, worked in the entertainment industry, earned her own money and was doing charity work for World Vision way before she met Harry.

Anniebach Sat 12-Jun-21 21:33:35

Surely Kate with her education is capable of having an interest
in education. Meg has a degree in theatre and is going to save the world as well as homeless chickens.

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 20:34:27

Getting back to the OP, I bet she's a lovely little baby.
I hope she's doing well.

The Great Royal Escape featuring previously undiscovered underground tunnels from Windsor Castle to Heathrow Airport.

From where a private jet is waiting to whisk them away to a Land Of Opportunity.

Catherine duchess of Cambridge education as follows;; Kate Middleton
A* student Kate bagged an A in Maths, an A in Art and a B in English, before graduating from St Andrews University with a 2:1 in History of Art.

No I don't think he was in Colditz, it was The Great Escape.

You’re right, I got muddled with films!

The one I was thinking of was The Great Escape, not Colditz.

Neither had a suitable role for Meghan, hence having to write her own script.
