Lilibet Diana Mountbatten- Windsor, born on Friday.
Good choice of names! tcrsmile ?

trisher Fri 11-Jun-21 09:42:07

Would you carry out your work without pay or expenses?
I do Callistemon and so do thousands of others. It's called volunteering. Having enough income to live a reasonable (if not extravagant) life I've chosen to work for a number of different charitable organisations since I retired. The RF certainly has enough cash to keep them all comfortably without any other support. And still they need more

All the more reason for the Sussex’s to shut up

Alegrias1 Fri 11-Jun-21 09:54:03

If I was to come on here and say it was time for William to shut up, I'd get hammered. Not that I would, I have more manners.

Telling people to shut up tells us a lot about the poster.

(ps - Sussexes)

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 09:57:02

Do you Algrias1 ?

JaneJudge Fri 11-Jun-21 09:58:09

William's daughter has the middle names Elizabeth Diana as well

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 10:01:07

Well said Smileless , a couple who left the country, wanted privacy, didn’t want the life of being a royal yet use their family
for publicity to make money, even using The Queen , how can
anyone defend this .

That appears to be the problem doesn’t it Annie? There has been rigorous defence of Harry and Meghan’s behaviour whatever their behaviour has been and however unkind and disrespectful to the royal family. If Harry and Meghan had quietly left their royal duties and chosen to live quietly on their substantial fortunes then there would have been many people disappointed and who would have expressed their disappointment, but as time went on they would have been out of the limelight and gradually forgotten, maybe being seen occasionally as part of the family on special occasions. But that isn’t what they did. They are regularly in the news, courting publicity it seems at every available opportunity, giving interviews and making podcasts about everything from how much money they are given (unearned) to generations of poor parenting and of course, a lot more besides. That is what many people despise to be honest, but others support. Those who support seem to be anti royalists in the main and it is of course perfectly acceptable to hold anti royalist views. However lending support to the behaviour of Harry and Meghan is at times indefensible. If a close friend or relative of our own behaved in such a way I think we all would find it to be reprehensible. But the royal family cannot answer back and as Harry and Meghan know this, it is particularly reprehensible.

I’m not a royalist but I think Meghan and Harry are just plain rude.

Ah, but you are retired, presumably.

Yes, so do we, especially DH.
Luckily we did work for remuneration and are lucky enough to have saved into pensions so have an income now.
DH could claim expenses but doesn't, but very many charity volunteers do.

Smileless2012 Fri 11-Jun-21 12:06:45

"The RF certainly has enough cash to keep them all comfortably without any other support, And still they need more" so where do H&M fit in trisher?

H spat his dummy out when his father withdrew financial support, despite both him and M have "enough cash to keep them .... comfortably without any other support. And they still need more".

Great post maddyonesmile.

Any quote from 'a source at the palace' doesn't randomly utter those quotes......The queen has to pass them for print. see below from a palace site........

The aide behind the Palace leak to the BBC is unknown, though it is thought to be a senior official. It's also unclear if the Queen was aware of the comment, though it is considered almost unprecedented for the monarch not to sign off on quotes from senior officials, even if they are anonymous briefings.

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 12:14:31

Monarchist or republican, how can anyone defend them, estranged from both families and causing so much hurt and
doing so publicly.

Read this morning, Diana’ wedding dress is now on display,
a sign read it was with permission of HRH the Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duke of Sussex, the sign has now been change to - HRH the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of
Sussex.

Smileless2012 Fri 11-Jun-21 12:25:25

I keep asking myself that question Annieconfused.

maddyone Fri 11-Jun-21 13:05:34

Like. Smileless I also ask myself that Annie.
Their behaviour has been reprehensible.

JaneJudge Fri 11-Jun-21 13:07:19

He isn't estranged from his family is he? and she is only estranged from her Father's side

maddyone Fri 11-Jun-21 13:20:39

Meghan is estranged from her entire family other than her mother. Harry is very lucky that his family have not estranged him!

This thread is really excelling itself in petty nastiness today. Misinformation abounds as usual.

Unlike his mother, Prince Harry has not been stripped of his HRH title. It was his decision not to use it publicly, it was used in the exhibition labels due to an admin error and has since been removed.

I notice certain posters never actually provide links to their sources, always ‘I read’ or ‘I heard’, but no mention of where it was read or heard.

Enjoy your sniping.

maddyone Fri 11-Jun-21 13:38:55

Blossoming you are correct in saying that Harry has not been stripped of his HRH title. However you are wrong in saying he decided not to use it. Her Majesty the Queen requested that Meghan and Harry do not use their HRH titles.
Another one jumping on to the bandwagon of defence of indefensible behaviour from Harry and Meghan.

maddyone Fri 11-Jun-21 13:40:31

Incidentally Blossoming discussion is not petty nastiness. I actually think your post exemplifies that.

No idea how that got posted, sorry, please ignore.

I've just google Meghan's family. There is no evidence that I can find that she is estranged from her Mother's side of the family, infact it says her Aunt lives very close to her Mother. Doria's parents have died and there is one or two older brothers that are in touch with Doria but haven't seen Meghan for a while, which is quite typical in families that live a further distance away. I haven't seen my Aunts/Uncles for several years I don;t consider myself estranged from them.

She is estranged from her Father and two half siblings. The one half sibling, Samantha is estranged from her own children. The half brother sounds terrible! Domestic battery charges amongst other things.

maddyone Fri 11-Jun-21 13:54:53

Meghan has nothing whatsoever to do with her mother’s side of the family, apart from her mother. The only relative that she invited to her wedding was her mother. I have seen pictures and quotes from her mother’s side and they clearly said she has nothing to do with them. That’s called estranged!

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 13:55:10

Unusual not to invite an aunt and two uncles to one’s wedding
