Is Israel completely beyond any control?

This is a very sad situation. I can't understand why the USA and many other nations side with Israel, who has been encroaching on Palestine's territory for years.
Perhaps somebody can help with the detail but I remember the United Nations in the 70's/80's drawing up an agreement as to what land was to be handed back to the Palestinians and the border between the countries redrawn. Needless to say, this was not implemented.
It is no wonder that the Palestinians are continually up in arms - they want their land returned !!

It is disgraceful what is happening, Biden has come out on support for Israel but that is what I expect from the US but I just cannot understand the UK Government. Words fail me.
